Considering just how little was known about the after effects the Japanese were lucky both bombs were air burst. Today Nagasaki, and Hiroshima are both thriving cities with large populations.

Never seen that photo before but thanks a lot for sharing that one (truly insane stuff).

Was put in mind of the rather horrific ant walking alligator people.. but do not click that link if anyone is easily disturbed.

From testing always thought this photo was truly bizarre.

I was stationed in Japan from 1983-1986.   I spent a weekend in Hiroshima.  I did Peace Park, went to the museum and saw the cement steps with the shadows of people who had been sitting there, I saw the Library which is now the 'dome building' where the airburst exploded over.  I walked over the bridge that was the target that they missed by a few hundred feet.  The city now is beautiful.  Big and 'new' and spacious.  It's too bad those nuclear explosions were necessary.  And yes, they were necessary to end the war.  Japan wasn't going to stop.  They even had kindergarteners going to school half a day and then working the other half in bullet factories.  Very sad that it had to happen to end the war.  But better that they died, then us.

Mighty fine point you made there mate and apparently it's much, much worse nowadays (they just use the atomic as a 'trigger' for the nuke).

The two bombs dropped were of a different type.
Uranium and Plutonium bombs.

Showing the experimental nature and the experiments made at that time to see which one was more 'succesfull'

There is no evidence in what you claimed.
The axis powers have already lost the war by that time and Japan could only hold for a few more months. The bombing of Japan was unnecessary and a huge crime against the civilians. Japan could not do any harm to the US & Allies other than defending their lands before they give up.

In addition the next generations have been affected by the radiation emitted and are going to be affected in the future.

Dropping these bombs was a huge mistake and a huge crime.

You want me to post why the bombs were not detonated in some remote islands as the American Army had planned?
