Catastrophic flooding is occurring in Central Texas this morning.

Fox News is stating the girls camp was just inspected on July the 2nd by the state of Texas. It passed. Even the emergency plans for the camp were approved. This seems to indicate that Texas does not have a good acceptable standard for camp emergency plans or that camp did not follow their plans.

All plans only survive until first contact but better plans are a better start.

Your earlier low-tech fire watch plan at each camp along the river would have likely made a huge difference.

Bare minimum

One person at each camp or RV park monitors the NWS watches and warnings and begins evacuations as soon as flash flood warnings are issued.

AI suggests that Kerr County receives 2-5 flash flood warnings a year.

Between the counties, camps, and RV parks, it should be easy to have an emergency plan go into effect a few times a year.

If it's important enough to the citizens of those counties, and the owners and members of the camps and RV Parks

There are some aspects of natural flooding that we must learn.

You can not "win."
You can only be ready for what you imagined to plan for... ironic

Sometimes "Run" is the only answer.

We'd like to think that we can expect our elected-officials and their minions are doing the best they can with what they have.  The press will always make glamorous the notion that they were sitting with their thumbs up their asses playing Keno at the local gas station.  Hindsight offer them the opportunity to create that wedge...  Instant drama.... Instant 'look at me' points.

I can say that it's unlikely that anyone wanted or hoped that little bodies would be the result of their work.  I think that's a reasonable assertion.

I wish the media weren't allowed to use political activism within this coverage... but all it takes is one... and the rest "must" respond somehow... it's the nature of "team" play.

Limitations on funding is no small part of this tragedy.

Texas county where campers died was denied money to boost warning systems

Funding limitations aside, even when they knew the dangers, the state decided on inaction. The Texas state and local governments have been allowing development in areas with known flood risks for a long time, contrary to FEMA guidelines.

All within a state that regularly gets dumped on by storms with 10-12 inches of rain per day. Up until now, they have been lucky they haven't had this many deaths.

There's not much else the state can do they havent already done. It would be difficult to do considering the majority of this county is private property and its underfunded because low population produces so few taxes and the State of Texas has a very low tax rate. At NO time did the state fail to act. They released their warning with plenty of time and had rescue operations ready within the area and according to the DHS any news organization that says otherwise is lying to you. The real problem, is the complacency of everyone who didn't heed the warning assuming it would be just a downpour flash flood like usual but you cant blame them publicly because it would be taboo to blame half the victims for their own downfall *obviously not the childrens thats why i said half*. Ill say the hard parts so you dont have to. Color me how you want.

This is interesting. The area of the flooding was cloud seeded less than two days before the flood.

Coencidence or problem?

I found that looking into a proposed federal weather modification ban I noticed on  Fox News at the gym. I will search into it further when I get home.

Supposedly, that mission dissipated two clouds.

From your source:

"“Cloud seeding cannot create a storm of this magnitude or size. In fact, cloud seeding cannot even create a single cloud,” Herzog said. “All it can do is take an existing cloud and enhance the rainfall by up to 20% — and even that is on the high end.”"

RIP to all the lost souls and condolences to the victims' families.

I am wondering if any residual seeding material could have made the storms worse when the moisture got to that area. I will be looking at the wind currents and actual dispersal altitude of the seeding. It is not a question of making new storms but making newly arrived moisture into worse storms by possibly leaving the atmosphere dirty with your experiment.

Remember how long it took that Chinese balloon to go across the United States? There were some loops in that one.

Many have made statements that did not take all possibilities into account.

Well, there is a link in your source link where the CEO of the cloud seeding company will be interviewed. I mean really, what do any of us really know about cloud seeding technology?

I think I know enough to see if it blew away or stayed in that area by the wind data.

The CEO can't really be trusted as he has a very high bias as to it not being his companies problem.
