Hopefully this shows up properly.
A Lynx watching a slashing crew work. Just hanging out unafraid. It’s a bit of a rarity to see them, much less have them pose so closely!
I’m thinking about how much high tech we just carry in our pocket that we can take such a great quality picture .

I am on the east coast now, and my New York Times was already at the top of my driveway when I woke up at 4:30am. What strange sorcery is this?!? I often wake up early, but I'm used to having to wait until 7am or so until my newspaper is delivered. I may have to adapt my habit of making useless posts on DI to fritter away the time. Nah, just kidding!
Okay, off to drink coffee and do the puzzle page. The rest of the paper of course will be useful later this morning as packing material. Handy hint: a box of paper sheets for wrapping items now costs $35 at OfficeMax, and for about that price you can get three weeks of the New York Times. Finally, the grey lady is showing her value!

I woke up at 4:30 am too and getting the NY Times paper at that time sure is suspicious.
I too fritter away time on DI while doing multitasking, now I need to search for a new printer online because I asked my son to move the old clunker to the basement and he must have let it down hard because it does not work any more. Oh well, out with the old and in with the new.

I just got a Brother HL-L2405W laser printer to replace the crappy inkjet my mom was using. She was getting scammed $5 a month for an HP ink "subscription". It's $95 on Amazon now, and does what it should, no scanner or other stuff -- prints black and white crisply, fairly quickly, replacement toner cartridges every thousand pages or so, third-party toner okay, no sneaky software locking. Was able to set it up to connect to wifi without installing any software, just using the buttons on the front to enter the network password, albeit with quite a few button presses. Worked fine printing from Windows and Linux via wifi without any extra drivers needed. Recommended.

That seems similar to the old clunker I will be throwing out. I already ordered a new fangled thermal printer because I don't do a lot of printing, but it's bluetooth, USB ready and does not need to be plugged in and portable/mobile. Bestseller on Amazon too, so we shall see if there are any software glitches, but the reviews are all very good. Yay, no more ink.

Oh neat, I didn't know they still made thermal printers other than for cash registers. I always avoided them because they required special expensive paper, felt "slickery", and the printing faded over time. Are they better now?
I'm going to keep her old HP printer, because it is at least a decent scanner, and maybe occasionally try to print color with it. The print quality is atrocious though! I don't know how people stand it.

I haven't had the experience yet with thermal paper feel but it's coming tomorrow so I can report back then, however whether it's sticky feel or not, I doubt I will be touching it because I will be inserting it by holding the ends. But for you, I will feel it. I also bought the rolls, 2 pack, at a very low price. Bonus, no reems of paper lying around the house being exposed to humidity and dust.
My new Google phone does all the scanning I need, so I don't really need all those extra features on a printer now.

4am and the paper's here. What is this strange place, where things happen three hours earlier?
I am thinking about humans and dragons and how they hoard.

Since you asked ....
I am thinking about all my health problems and those of my husband.
I am thinking about how scary it all is. I'm thinking about how worried I am about it all.
(and there are lots of things to worry about!)
I am thinking about all the insurance changes and the upcoming switch to social security and medicare
for hubby as well as the switches to my own health insurance that have to take place.
I am thinking about all the online paperwork and things that have to get done for this.
I am thinking about how all of this is NOT 'user friendly' and I'm totally lost with it.
I am thinking about how my husband got laid off and the income is going to dry up and that we are too old and too sick to find new jobs.
And I'm thinking about how expensive everything is and wondering if we'll have enough $$.
I am thinking about God and why the heck He chose this kind of life for people.
I am thinking about the political corruption in my Church.
I am thinking about my country and about the political corruption in it as well.
I am thinking about how bad people keep getting away with crap.
I am thinking about how there are so many lies in the world and so much deception being touted as 'truth'.
I am thinking about certain people who have been rude and disrespectful to me for no reason.
I am thinking about how technology has passed me by and that I don't understand computers or cell phones
or even 'streaming' on TV, I don't get this stuff and am lost.
That's what I'm thinking about this morning.
Pretty much mostly what is on my mind every morning.
It's a wonder that my head hasn't exploded by now.
