force you to pay per mile.

maybe it’s about trying to force you not to have a car.

maybe force you into small imcapsulated cities where they can control better.

conspiracy?

globalists have posted videos saying they want to do this and posted it on their websites.

The state of California has always heavily taxed gasoline, so the functionaries have simply come up with a way to tax EV's, and keep the revenue flowing. The average sales tax rate in California charges is now 8.8%. Think about that.

It has never been about the climate and/or the environment and state of our planet.

It has always been about money and control. Governments tax and then increase bureaucracies until they spend more than they take in. Nothing new.

None of that money will be left for road construction and maintenance, that will be done by federal grants while increasing deficits.

All their virtue signaling is just their usual hypocrisy.

Meh, my 2 pesos

long term they want to shut down travel for average person.

only rich will own land

only rich will travel

basically trying to return to feudalism so they can be lords

these agendas are all published, they just don’t call it feudalism.

but you will own nothing and be happy.

What's owning? Is that like leasing but forever? Does it come with free maintenance and roadside assistance?

This concept you speak of sounds like English but I can't understand it.

I joke, but I'm also happy to own nothing and lease the appearance of status. Which may say more about a willingness to settle or being in denial where I live is aspiring to be as unaffordable and snobby as Monaco.

Is owning nothing and leasing the appearance of status part of what makes you an ideomotor prisoner? I have chosen to own everything, but eschew the appearance of status. I am something of a grey man.

That's the way to be. Unfortunately you forfeit your attempt at grey man status by posting about it to gratify your ego. That is (most) humans

I think he meant as far as material possessions, not online presence.

If I'm doing my math right, this 30-cent tax will mean an additional 8k USD per year per car/driver. with a reported 27million drivers, I guess California will want that juicy 216 billion a year for "Road Projects"(which I bet 75% will be for admin crappola).

Ok so I know that all 27 million drivers don't have EVs, but how quickly does anyone want to bet California will try and force that issue again.
