However, he can be searching for a pretext to attack Ukraine. It's not a secret he's being pressured by Putin to join the war. So far he hesitated because he was afraid of potential riots at home if Belarusian soldiers started dying or if he announced mobilization. But nobody really knows what's going on in his head or what Putin promised him.

I doubt the Belarusian army is strong enough to occupy parts of Ukraine but opening a new front would distract Ukrainians' attention and further weaken the defense of the Eastern front.

You would be correct in your assessment about Belarus not being strong enough to do much of anything, but that's not why Putin is trying to push Belarus into the conflict.  Putin wants to be able to use Belarus' border on the NW of Ukraine as a beachhead to launch attacks from.  If Belarus doesn't engage Ukraine then Russians coming into Belarus in force would look like a Russian invasion of Belarus.  Putin wants to be able to attack Ukraine from as many sides as possible to spread Ukraine out impossibly thin.

The saddest part here is that no conflict would have happened without a US state dept backed coup of the last leader. So they want to join NATO...they are part of Russia's sphere of influence...going into another nuclear nations sphere is inviting trouble. Same as if Russia backed a coup of Mexico and installed a new puppet gov friendly to them. Literally the same situation reversed...and we would level mexico city tomorrow over it...

Not the same at all. Mexico was not formerly part of the old Soviet Union.

Ukraine was and gave up it's nukes and in return Russia agreed to respect it's Sovereignty and not to attack it, etc. the West gave Ukraine security guarantees at the same time.

Russia reneged on that and invaded.

So, not the same at all.

R.T. we are living in interesting times... This whole event is because of MONEY and a merger of companies " The Russian Way" as two were already killed.

Back in the 80s if you wanted something done in Russia you dealt with the Mafia because they would not nickel and dime you to death like the government... I see nothing has changed..
