Reports of disks or “lights in the sky” go way back in history - albeit not as concisely or specifically reported like the above examples.
Yes mate some extremely freaky and familiar sounding reports dating way back - those Fort books also really do make for some extremely interesting reading.
Here's one report from 1936 covered by Dolan where an elliptical shaped object was said to depart silently at 'amazing speed' - it was witnessed by a Canadian Government pilot in the Northwest territories (Canadian National Archives).
See 20:00
Also other reports of a silver disc shaped zig zagging object from Argentina in July, 1947.
• Argentina's First UFO Sighting – 1947
Quote:A serious person and - according to his son - not much given to rumors...Therefore, this gentleman told the following story over the dinner table: at the break of day on Monday, he saw a silvery object shaped like a disk pass by at an incredible speed at an estimated altitude of 1000 meters. It was disc-shaped, flying in an impeccable zig-zag pattern. Suddenly, it plunged vertically, falling into a field five hundred meters distant from the observer's perspective..

It's a bit irreverent but Richard D Hall takes a look at the subject of UFOs and the abrahamic belief system below - there are a few inconsistencies but on the whole thought he made some interesting points, particularly about contextual UFO reports and biblical scripture.
All those accounts of stationary clouds, sky thrones, fiery chariots, flying rolls, pillars of light, platforms, vessels and fiery wheels in the sky do sound pretty intriguing - especially when the objects are described as exhibiting rapid, prolonged flight; hovering; ascending or descending.

Lots of different speculation out there about UFO origin mate and I'll be the first to admit I have no idea what's going on.
Certainly some very intriguing globally reported UFO characteristics though and lots of accounts of pendulum motion, colour change during acceleration, solid light beams, water collection, stopped watches/clocks etc. but suppose that doesn't get us any closer towards concept of origin (they could be fourth dimensional objects for all we know).
Anyway here's a bit of a freaky one involving a UFO and missing time from 1639 (source link deleted).
Quote:Think UFO sightings are just a modern phenomenon? Think again. The Puritans were the first to record strange shining lights in American skies.
On March 1, 1639, John Winthrop opened his diary in which he recorded the trials and triumphs of his fellow Puritans as they made a new life in America. As the governor of the Massachusetts Bay Colony put pen to paper, he began to recount a most unusual event that had recently caused a stir among the English immigrants.
Winthrop wrote that earlier in the year James Everell, “a sober, discreet man,” and two others had been rowing a boat in the Muddy River, which flowed through swampland and emptied into a tidal basin in the Charles River, when they saw a great light in the night sky. “When it stood still, it flamed up, and was about three yards square,” the governor reported, “when it ran, it was contracted into the figure of a swine.”
Over the course of two to three hours, the boatmen said that the mysterious light “ran as swift as an arrow” darting back and forth between them and the village of Charlestown, a distance of approximately two miles. “Diverse other credible persons saw the same light, after, about the same place,” Winthrop added.
The governor wrote that when the strange apparition finally faded away, the three Puritans in the boat were stunned to find themselves one mile upstream—as if the light had transported them there. The men had no memory of their rowing against the tide, although it’s possible they could have been carried by the wind or a reverse tidal flow. “The mysterious repositioning of the boat could suggest that they were unaware of part of their experience. Some researchers would interpret this as a possible alien abduction if it happened today,” write Jacques Vallee and Chris Aubeck in Wonders in the Sky.
Also a case here from 1878 (source link also deleted) involving a farmer witnessing an object which "appeared to be going through space at wonderful speed" - could be nothing but it states at the link that Hynek studied the sighting and classified it a 'daylight disc'.

Yes indeed mate although many cave depictions are open to subjective interpretation there really are some intriguing ones out there.
Graham Hancock touches on the subject in this short vid and posits that altered states of consciousness may be an important factor (and that shaman 'spirits', medieval 'faeries' and 'aliens' may all be the same thing).
Have seen a few astral shamanistic vision paintings containing 'flying discs' so it certainly makes one wonder - also remembered this great relevant thread from Zazz regarding aboriginal dreamtine and their 'Flying Shiny Eggs and Moon-Man tales'.

Could not agree more and seems like AI is being used to muddy the waters a lot (whilst at the same time a lot of decent material is being shamelessly deleted).
Been happening in the UFO field for quite some time now although apparently it's affecting many other subjects and 'the digital library of Alexandria is on fire' ( link).

Ha this thread is dedicated to you mate.
No clay ones (and it's not that old) but here's one of the most intriguing radar visual pilot 'flying disc' encounters I've come across.
Apparently there were three of the objects and after the incident 'they sped off towards Mount Popocatepetl' (known UFO hotspot).
Quote:• "They had opaque grey fuselages and a sort of windshield, but without rivets and completely smooth.. What I would like to make clear is that my personal and professional reputation is safe thanks to the testimony of air traffic controllers. They had the three objects on their screens, making 270-degree turns in a very tight radius of action."
Pilot Carlos Antonio de los Santos Montiel describes three radar confirmed 'disc shaped' objects which flew alongside his aircraft over Lake Tequesquitengo, Mexico, May 3rd, 1975.

Pretty crazy stuff and plenty more close range pilot flying disc testimony here.

They started off as literal boats in the sky, then airships, into what we have now.
It's always relatable yet fantastic.
Seems like whatever it is, they're tricksters more than anything.

Hmmmph! That first video is pretty interesting. Though after examining it more carefully, I see it is a video sequence of about 3 minutes total sped up to 2x speed (roughly). I also notice some relief between the object and the mountain. By relief I mean 'distance". I slowed the video down to approximately real time, and it appears as though it could possibly be explained by a firefly in the foreground. It's also difficult to manipulate because the frame rate on the video itself is slowed way down (probably below 15 frames per sec). This is likely a result of needing a lower frame rate to allow for speeding up the exposure ISO on the camera to counteract the low-light condition at the time the video was shot.
Interesting none the less.
I guess we should enjoy all these photos and grainy videos while we can. It won't be long before AI starts outputting AI generated photos and videos which are impossible to differentiate from real life events.
