RE: Moon Boots… - FlyingClayDisk - 09-09-2024 I absolutely remember Moon Boots!! I had a pair I got in the late '70's and completely wore them out. Then I got another pair which were the industrial kind; they had a thick rubber outsole which came up higher in the back. Those boots were the warmest boots I've ever owned, and about the only boots which would combat the Wyoming cold in the dead of winter (it gets plenty frosty in late Feb/March there). I used to even wear them to work sometimes...until one time I crushed my foot with an oxygen cylinder. Not sure any other boot would have prevented that, but I didn't wear them a lot afterwards as they weren't really as cool anymore. Noticed several folks saying they got wet easy. I don't recall mine ever getting wet. Most comfortable boots too. edit - Heh, regarding prices, yeah, crazy today! Just last winter I was remembering my old moon boots and decided to look up getting a pair. What a shocker!! $400 bucks???? NO WAY!! Not sure what I paid for my last pair, but I think it was around $30-$40 bucks. RE: Moon Boots… - Quantum12 - 09-09-2024 My parents bought my my first pair in the 70’s. Mine got soaked. They bought me the better pair like yours and they stayed dry! I agree! The most comfy boots ever! Ouch on crunching your foot as they did it have frontal support! RE: Moon Boots… - Velvet Elvis - 09-09-2024 Yep I had a pair in the late 70's. Don't remember them getting wet though. We could play outside for hours. RE: Moon Boots… - Quantum12 - 09-09-2024 My first pair always got wet. Second pair was awesome. Yep, could play in the snow for hours! I used to put empty plastic bread bags on under the boots and then sled for hours! Feet ended up kinda pickled but sure weren't cold! Mittens on the other hand became ice-filled finger popsicles! This thread rocks and should never die. Moon-rocks. Hey did you know moon boots came with special magic slipcovers that changed the tread pattern and caused people to make breathless YouTube videos forty years later? Plus, fashionable! Oh wait that was NASA! RE: Moon Boots… - Quantum12 - 10-10-2024 (10-09-2024, 11:15 PM)UltraBudgie Wrote: Lol I can just picture it! I thought there were these high tech footwear that could simulate a low gravity moon walk. Not a bad imagination but holy hell I was disappointed. Hahaha.
