George de Mestral invented Velcro after going for a walk and noticing that burrs clung to his clothes and his dog's fur. He then examined the burrs under a microscope to see the hooks that allowed them to attach so firmly.
I’ve always said that Velcro is a rip off! Ok I’ll get my coat.

I mean really, why not collect those hooked barbs and just glue then to a base and make your own sticking invention and use it to make a belt to keep your coat belted? lol

Are you saying the Placebo effect isn’t a thing? If you don’t believe in the power of the mind look in to hypnosis not the stage version but the real deal.

The placebo effect is indeed very real and well-documented.
Even i have to recognize that fact.
And the power of belief, real or induced, seems to be a factor.

I'm not saying that, I'm saying if one is taking medication or supplements and one feels a change or feels better, there is one way to find out whether or not it's the placebo effect or because of the meds/supplements, get a blood test or other testing.
As for the placebo effect in other ways, yes, I believe the mind can work wonders, such as when people started wearing those copper/magnetic bracelets that claim to ease arthritis pain.
"According to studies published over the years, magnetic wrist straps and copper bracelets don’t work on arthritis pain or stiffness.
Placebo-controlled trials have been done in both osteoarthritis (OA) and rheumatoid arthritis (RA). A few small studies showed that magnets may offer some pain benefit in osteoarthritis, but these results have not been replicated or expanded to larger trials."
Magnets, Copper Don't Ease Arthritis Pain
See what I mean, small studies vs. larger trials come up with different results.

Nothing in the OP video is true. Neither the alleged 'science', nor the videographers counterclaims.
Most of the things that the video claims are 'lies told us by science', aren't actually scientific claims, but are pseudoscience, marketing, and/or what people have said about their understanding of science.

Well then the scientific thing to do would be to avoid food grown with pesticides and minimize pharmaceutical usage, and see if it has a positive, negative, or neutral effect on your well-being. It wouldn't prove anything at more than an individual level, but I have heard quite a few people say that such an approach has a positive impact on their health. The alternative, accepting what you believe to be true on the say-so of authority, seem to me like a "faith-based" approach. Quite irrational, especially given that the argument that the science provided by those selling "scientifically safe" food and drugs being non-objective due to capitalistic influence is a strong one. Are we just suppose to ignore that?

For those lamenting lack of evidence via research etc., a timely article about herbal meds.
https://theconversation.com/women-folk-h...und-266406
Interesting excerpt:
Eye of newt is mustard seed, most likely the European species Sinapis alba. Modern research has shown it has anti-cough, anti-asthma, anti-inflammatory, anti-nerve damage, anti-androgenic, cardioprotective and anti-tumour effects.
The classical formulations containing dried mustard seed, handed down from ancient medical books or ethnic medical experience, are now widely used in herbal clinics.

That sounds quite lovely and worth doing in and of itself. Except for the bit about horses. They can stay the hell away.
