image released of 'cylindrical' UFO shot down by US fighter jet over Alaska in 2023
#1
I posted this last night on ATS and was supremely disappointed in the lack of responses, 2-3 good insights and links but overall meh. I was looking forward to a deeper more thoughtful discussion ATS from years gone by would have produced automatically. It's over a year later and one says it's a balloon but another says they still don't know it means for propulsion and I assume "control". The point being ATS used to cover this topic and leave no stone unturned, no tidbit of information was left out, and no theory was too bizarre. LOL I still have questions and nowhere to ask them

JUST IN - First image released of 'cylindrical' UFO shot down by US fighter jet over Alaska in 2023 - Daily Mail
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/...-2023.html

Quote:Canada has released a first-ever image of the UFO shot down during the chase over Alaska and the Yukon territory that followed the now infamous Chinese spy balloon drama of February 2023.

The unusual, grainy and apparently xeroxed or printed photo depicts a seemingly circular white object with ill-defined edges — shot down by a US Air Force F-22 stealth fighter on a joint mission with the Canadian Armed Forces.

One unusual feature of the newly released UFO photo is that it had already been designated as 'unclassified' within just days of the now 19-month-old incident.

A possible reason, as one public affairs official with Canada's Department of National Defence (DND) warned colleagues, was internal fears that releasing this unclassified UFO image 'may create more questions/confusion.'

The emails, obtained along with the eerie new UFO photo by CTVNews.ca reporter Daniel Otis via an open records law request, also included efforts by members of Canada's armed forces to better understand the craft that had been shot down.

One email from Canadian Brigadier-General Eric Laforest described the UFO as a 'cylindrical object.'

'Top quarter is metallic, remainder white. 20-foot wire hanging below with a package of some sort suspended,' Brig. Gen. Laforest wrote. 'Best description that we have.'

and my other thoughts from the ATS thread

My question, the ultimate question is IF it's just a weather balloon, or Boy Scout experiment why are TPTB remaining so GD coy about the subject?

This is an example of why nobody trusts our government and our media, as it seems every incident or story becomes a chance for them to manipulate it to thier maximum advantage.

Here's a Canadian MP thoughts contemporaneous to the event(s)

I was hesitating to be the first to respond in this thread because this will not be very supportive of the idea that these things are either related to the classic UFO phenomena or "strategic weapons" or "intelligence gathering tools."

The very idea that 'secrecy' is important because authorities declare there is some sort of 'danger' in spawning "questions" in the public sphere, raises concerns about the nature of the devices we were observing.  Creating a perception that UFO's are suddenly now a "threat" was perhaps the most egregious indicator that it was not secrecy about UFO's at all, but of the ignorance about what a third-party technology represents in terms of the global theater.

That "aliens" would need to use "balloons" is ludicrous.  Yet for all the history of these 'objects' we have repeatedly faced associations it with "potential extraterrestrial" activity.  And isn't it peculiar that this offered photo presents an object very similar to a classic "tic tac" image?

It seems implicitly true that this "shot down" object survived a descent from altitude... and was 'cushioned' enough to land intact...  (the photo might seem artificially-generated and the scale of the image is hard to discern.)

I want to say that I am not inclined to associate this story with UFO's at all... but then I feel the same about the "tic tac" imagery offered by the MIC, and their directed media-frenzied focus.  (What if, for example, all those "tic-tacs" were simply objects released from altitude by a balloon and then 'photographed' during descent as "mysteriously" powered devices?  Not saying that is the case, but offering it as yet another possible 'misrepresentation' from authorities and agencies already known to rely on misrepresentation as a matter of course.)

Sorry if it isn't the response you were looking for...  but I think your thread is a very important contribution to the subject matter.  Sorry the response from ATS was less than what you were hoping for.

Perhaps more will respond as time passes... and distractions evaporate.

This merits discussion, in my opinion...

[While not "cylindrical" I EDIT ATO ADD a newer video offering up by FoxNews (allegedly taken from a docuseries) which demonstrates more 'easily artificially-generated material.'  This is now the kind of 'supporting evidence' we are frequently offered... previously unachievable in low-tech film.  Caveat Emptor.]

I don't know what it is either Maxmars, but the article is labeled "UFO" Thus I put it in the Alien UFO folder. I Could easily slide it into other categories

As for the videos of other tic tacs those videos the ones commonly shown don't depict an object falling vertically they represent objects moving horizontally.

I posted here because much like with ATS I wanted to see what like-minded people thought.

the responses on ATS are as disappointing as yours here.

LOL guess it's back to wading through the chaff of X.com, Discord Reddit etc. Below is an interesting thread from Reddit

Why do you think the US govt went public with the Yukon shootdowns?
DiscussionIf you buy into the thesis that there’s been a sustained effort to suppress information on UAP and crash retrievals, then that would dictate that there might be multiple UAP shoot downs per day / month / year which occur completely in secret.
Why would the US govt let the general public know about the Yukon shoot downs, when they could have kept everything under wraps?
It doesn’t make any sense to disclose this….unless it’s a way for them to test the waters of public reaction for similar announcements in the future.

I am, by no means, criticizing your placement of the material in the UFO forum, it belongs here...

I apologize for not offering a response that satisfies your expectation.  I only wanted to offer my opinions, not refute your submission.
There is a lot of room for consideration in this article and the images that accompany it.  (And I could prove to be completely mistaken...)

Sorry I have disappointed you, but I couldn't have responded any differently.
Next time I will resist the impulse until it doesn't intrude obtusely or negatively.

The thing I’m curious about is, why are we seeing this article now?

Did I forget this being put out in Feb?

How did the UFO community miss an “immediately declassified” image like this? Or was it just declassified?

We’re supposed to get that big UFO document release early next month I think. Maybe the timing is related to that.

I suspect the “Chinese Spy Balloons” tie into this somehow.

Also, we can now “shoot them down”? I find that a little hard to believe. Or, maybe they’re just saying it’s an F22 since we think that as advanced as we get with operational military aircraft. The real story then is what do we have that’s capable of shooting down a “ufo” after all these years.

I wish threads like this would take off. This is a thing to pay attention to yet the UFO community seems to have gone dark.

I appreciate you posting this Putnam. Question, and sorry if it’s been answered already - what’s the source of the second photo (craft in snow)?

Thats how I feel too, this story legit or not, would usually have had ATS a buzz with numerous theories instead we got crickets. I thought it was worthy of discussion, and mostly wanted to know what the former Atsers and new Deny Ignorance members thought.

Not looking for quick first impressions those are everywhere, looking for in-depth discussion and not at the novice or newb level.

We know the basic levels Roswell etc. Whats happened since Grusch's testimony? I did see where one congressman from Alaska said and I quote "we believe they are not extra-terrestrial but seem to be able to phase in and out of our existence" looking for that quote and I'll add it here when I find it. So much going on the Hurricane stuff etc. but the UAP story needs an in depth well participated discussion session. I listen to the X Spaces sometimes and Discord and Redit but I want to know what the people Ive talked with for 15 years think too.

If that makes sense...

No worries it was in the Reddit thread not sure of the legitimacy, it's decent thread in itself but kind of hits on some basic chit, an appetizer the main course the meat and potatoes.

Our government and military if we take their word as legit feel a helluva lot like the classic slow disclosure scenario
