What things labeled 'superstition' are actually true?

OK, I don't do this often, partly out of respect, and since I'm retired, I'm not in as much of a hurry anymore (and I don't what to press my luck too much!), but...

When I am in "need" of a parking space somewhere, I focus on the idea of a space and snap my fingers (dominate side).

If the snap sounds "right"  (crisp, solid), a space will either open up immediately, or my "inner voice" will tell me which way to turn to find an open space.
It works far more often than random chance.

And I always thank "Squawt", who I picture as the "Godess of parking spaces", when a space is provided.

A wild bird in the house is bad luck. I haven't had any trouble when bats got in the house, although they carry rabies far more than birds or most other wild animals.

Ignoring the small voice that pops into you head and warns you of things can be bad news. Rationalizing away strong feelings that seem to come form nowhere can be bad too. Some things like these are worth paying attention to.
