My Disc status was awarded to me for my past assistance on ATS. However, it's not clear what it means or what, if any, privileges it affords me.

Well, in keeping with the 'Acronym game' thread over there, perhaps we should fix that.

Sorry, I forgot to address these other statutes.

Fighter: is given by Mods when the member takes part in a 'Debate'. There has been only one so far with Putman6 and IdeoMotorPrisoner as the participants. Only the participants can post during the debate, so I guess that status gives them that ability.

Writer: I'm not sure. We haven't had any writing contests, so, again, it could be statuses some of us had on ATS and were carried over. Perhaps to reproduce the ambiance of ATS as much as possible.

One last thing... you can assign yourself a custom user title in the Edit Profile section:

"Custom User Title

Here you can assign yourself a custom user title which will overwrite the one based on your display group.Default User Title: Member

New Custom User Title: (leave blank to use existing)"

EDIT: Actually, I just realised that the custom user title appears just below the member's name and doesn't override what is in the 'badge'.

VETERAN is for ATS members who have been around since 2008 and before.
Pretty sure 2008 and earlier is the cut off.
I could be off by a year or two.
Mine is 2004.

Yep, FlyersFan, I cross referenced all the Veterans with ATS's members list and found all but two, who may have different usernames or may have been banned.

Their ATS join dates range from 2002 to 2007.
