Welcome to Derry
#11
I hope it meets with success.

But I was thinking that despite an over-riding agenda to include a 'symbolically interwoven' message over an excellently written work... he still managed to create a worthy film... I get that Mr. King was pissed...

Welcome to Derry... in episode one, atleast hit all the right notes...

Brings the vibes of Derry and the Loser's Club.... 10 years previous? In episode one...

Superbly done, very damn intense and more than a bit demented, just like the book was... plenty of call backs to the book as well ...

I'm going to see what I have to do to watch this.   I think I can get it on one source or another.   I'm surprised and impressed they could get Bill Skarsgård  to resume his role as Pennywise.   I  think he captured the creepiness and loathing of Pennywise perfectly.   Perhaps as good as Tim Curry.   Perhaps better.

Salem's Lot { 1979 } wasn't bad for it's time, I'll give them a bit of credit with that. I hear there's a new one but I haven't seen it yet.  It seems like they don't want to spend money on special effects and big name actors, then try to cram too much into one scene and miss the nuance of WHY it's creepy.

What they did to The Dark Tower should be a felony.

You forgot Misery, Needful Things, and The Shawshank Redemption.   All three stellar works and true to King's writing, imo.  OH! Oh!   How could we forget Dolores Claiborne??   CLASSIC!!

I forgot all about Delores Claiborn's stellar movie and story, the eclipse scene was so well done....

Definitely one of the best adaptations in my book.

I got it for 10.99 a month through Amazon, and dropped my WAPO 12.99 subscription.

So I'll cancel HBO Max once it's over

Did the same with Paramount and the reimagined Stand a few years ago, but was so disappointed...

The original IT was limited by broadcast TV and it still has some decent moments but it wasn't anything like the book. I enjoyed Curry's portrayal but it wasn't book-accurate as much as Skasgaard's was/is
