It’s easy to use, very hard to get a virus unless you are using a server. For the home you would not be using a server.
You can make Linux look any way you want, yes it looks like windows. Everything is free.
This is Linux Ubuntu

What about apps, and online banking?
How hard is it to set up? Any harder than setting up a tablet?

I use my phone for my banking!
This is from Linux site.
Does Linux have banking Apps?
Linux, with its stability, security, and open-source nature, has become the go-to operating system for many banks and financial institutions. It provides a robust and reliable foundation for various critical systems, such as core banking applications, payment gateways, and data analysis platforms.

Don't you have to partition your hard drive to install a second operation system?
How do you do that easily?

I remember when I toyed with Ubuntu Linux long ago, the process was VERY easy... allowing to even install the system "separately" meaning you can run it instead of your regular OS while being able to use your old system after a boot up... meaning you can test run anything. (Or you can just let it do the reformatting and re-partitioning if it's needed.)
Go on.. I dare you...
If you get confused or bored of the learning curve... you're not stuck....

I wanted to install it and wipe out windows. It was easy. You can run both, that is easy too! You follow the install prompts.

I thought it was completely over for Microsoft inserting their fingers into my computer...
If like me, you refuse to adopt Windows 11 just yet... AND you "opted into" the Extended Security Updates thingy... check your updates again, just to be sure it's all working for you behind the scenes...
Just sayin'
[edit to add: OOPS... I forgot the article link:
Microsoft Just Broke (and Fixed) Extended Security Updates for Windows 10]
I got a new MOBO last summer and new CPU bundled and it forced me to get Win 11 cuz of the new MOBO architecture, essentially.
boo
First time in my life i paid for a Windows :(
It seems okay once you turn ALL the crap off and put a Classic Shell on it though :D

Strange how software engineers made a product that people are willing to build hardware around...
and thus become their vassals
As if their product was automatically, the "everything."
... more and more it turns out to be "the nothing."
(sorry for the Never Ending Story quote...)
I wonder if sociology has commented on 'corporate' behaviors?
Or is it all press-release journalism and industry hype?
This industry is due for some real competition...
and it wont come from within their system.
Will they suppress it, absorb it, or just use the media to kill it in our minds?
... can't wait.

hmmmmm
Well........
I was going to use my old computer.
It doesn't run Windows 10 all that well...and 10 is so slow next to 11.
What have I got to lose, except perhaps my sanity?

Really?
Is the Linux system that helpful?
And is Linux Ubuntu about the best/easiest/whatever?
My brain doesn't want to learn a lot of new stuff.
