This reported OS issue seems to be a problem...
Quote:... which "primarily affects a limited number of enterprise or managed environments," occurs on PCs running Windows 11 24H2 or 25H2 with a monthly cumulative update released from July 2025. XAML-dependent modern apps such as the Start menu, Explorer, Windows Search, and the taskbar might abruptly crash or fail to load.
Latest Windows 11 updates may break the OS's most basic bits
and
KB5072911: Explorer, the Start menu, and other XAML-dependent apps might not start or close unexpectedly on some enterprise devices
I share it here just in case we see a further impact of this design choice.
As usual, the more you tap the plumbing, the easier it is to stop up the drain.

Not a cure... more of a cheat code to escape the black void.
Just block those crappy Window updates indefinitely using services...

It is a serious problem for us, and for my Mom. Both of us don't have the System Requirements to upgrade. Neither of us want to pay the scratch to do so. I think we will probably melt down, and not use Windows. I hope the managers of it get body boils. I don't want them to die or suffer. I want them to live as we do.

The informatics equivalent of body boils is bad sectors on a hard drive..., so yeah, that will do nicely.

You could use the likes of "Rufus" to circumvent the Windows 11 system requirements and TPM.
The OS will install on just about any PC, performance will obviously vary depending on CPU core count/speed and installed memory.

The problem is that Windows Update include not only "improvements" to the OS, but bug and security fixes, including updated browser security certificates. So, if a root cert is compromised and revoked, that change is pushed through Windows Update. Eventually, you browser will become non-functional if you disable security cert updates, as the old ones expire. Some might say this is by design.

I would say that! ... but then I don't care what Microsoft thinks.

The cheat code is linux proficiency. I thank goodness I switched 20 years ago, in the early 2000s. I've been able to not only avoid the black void, but fly right though it. I just upgraded my notebook last week: pulled the old ssd, attached it via usb to the new machine, booted gparted from another usb stick, cloned the old ssd to the new machine's nvme, resized partitions and chrooted into the os to update grub, rebooted and tweaked the nvidia drivers, and boom! No os or app reinstall necessary. Everything moved over and working. Easy as cake¹. All clouds avoided. Try that with windows!
¹ Disclaimer: may require several years of baking experience

I thought about starting a separate thread for this, but then I might appear to bashing Windows 11...
You may not find your processor anymore on Windows 11's supported list of CPUs
Quote:...
Up until now, you could head over to the list of supported processors to find out if a specific chip is supported. You simply had to know the processor's name, which you can look up in Settings and some other places, and check if it is listed by Microsoft.
However, this is no longer the case, at least not for PCs with Intel hardware. Microsoft is listing processor series now instead of individual processors. Means, if you want to find out if your Intel Core i5-10400 CPU is supported, you need to know that it is a tenth generation processor.
...
You want something current... you have to buy something else...
I can imagine where this move lands the consumer of tomorrow.
