USAF B-2s hit Houthi targets
#1
At least two USAF B-2 Spirit bombers launched from Whiteman AFB in Missouri as SARGE11 and SARGE21, and struck at least five Houthi underground weapons storage facilities, with US Navy assets in the region assisting.  The aircraft would have refueled multiple times both to and from the region, and most likely are returning to Whiteman as their recovery base.

Aircraft from the 13th Bomb Squadron, 509th Bomb Wing, and Missouri Air National Guard 131st Bomb Wing, most likely carrying BLU-109, 2,000 pound bombs. It's unknown how many aircraft were involved yet, but it may have been four aircraft. The callsigns were reported as SARGE11 Flight and SARGE21 Flight, which would indicate multiple aircraft with each callsign.

Wow. I just found out the Houthis aren't just Terrorists, Global Terrorists, or even Designated Global Terrorists, but Specially Designated Global Terrorists.

There's a list and everything.  And an acronym.  We're not just dealing with Common Global Terrorists here.

Also, the title should be "USAF B-2s hit Iran-Backed Houthi Targets".  That's protocol to include that.

The omission didn't go unnoticed by me either...

It was like a pro-forma rule of American journalism... "Iran-backed" seemed to appear in ANY communication about these folks.

I wonder if it was an oversight, and somebody is getting chewed out as we speak.

*I* left it out because it’s completely irrelevant to anything involving the thread I wrote. So what if they’re backed by Iran, the targets were Houthi targets in Yemen.

I meant no criticism... that was a sense of humor "fail" on my part.

See, this is the difference between Super Moderate and Moderate.  I mean, you're both Moderate.

Aw heck, who am I kidding, you're both Super, too.

Hey, let's make fun of the press release.  Shouldn't the last paragraph read:

Quote:Our battle damage assessments, which do not indicate civilian casualties, are underway.

Right?

hopefully it was a significant enough strike that the Houthi's call it a day.
Especially being the Israeli's hit them hard the other week, they're probably running low on morale at the moment.

any kind of transport of more munitions by Iran might be targeted too

They took the really long way to Yemen. It’s been confirmed that five aircraft, plus spares were used. They went out over California, crossed the Pacific and met with Australian KC-30s (unconfirmed) over Northern Australia before continuing to Yemen.

The ABC understands air-to-air refuelling aircraft were part of the mission, although the defence department has declined to confirm.

Note: The initial reports of the B2s operating from RAAF Tindal were incorrect. The ABC wanted to exaggerate Australia's involvement in those airstrikes to make headlines. Look for more of those incidents in the future. However, unrelated Aukus developments/United States and Royal Navy submarines operating from Australia will likely send the media into similar frenzies.
