Sounds like an easy way to kill cops, imho

..that was from the Justice Department and is standard for police departments.  Perhaps they have a good reason for doing it like that, eh?

To allow cops to be killed?

I don't understand the logic thread here.

A cop should allow a criminal to kill him before the cop can react in defense?
You must develop the ability to be disliked in order to free yourself from the prison of other people's opinions.

I just quoted what the official practice is (the law--in fact, I quoted part of the la).

I don't think that the law has rules that make it easier for people to kill cops -- I'm pretty sure that the police unions have something to say about that.  So why do you think they'd have that law instead of 'shoot first, ask questions later'?

(NB: I do know, BTW, having worked with police depatments for a number of years.)

I don't know Byrd, what is going on here?

It's been going on for a long time and is still ongoing, so maybe it's just what those in power think the need to do (?)

Israel Trains Pennsylvania Police Amid Human Rights Concerns – Truthlytics

"Amnesty International, human rights organizations and even the U.S. Department of State have cited Israeli police for carrying out executions, unlawful killings, ill treatment and torture (even against children), suppression of freedom of expression including through government surveillance and excessive force against peaceful protesters. The Department of Justice report cited Baltimore police for using aggressive tactics that “escalate encounters and stifle public cooperation.” This leads, the report said, to use of unreasonable force during interactions for minor infractions, such as quality of life matters.  Furthermore, the report details how an overall lack of training leads to excessive force being used against those with mental health issues, juveniles and people who present “little or no threat against others,” such as those already restrained.

Leading human rights groups have denounced the exchange programs, warning that Israeli police standards and tactics only serve to exacerbate racial profiling and police brutality in the US.

“With a long record of human rights violations, Israeli security forces are an incredibly problematic training partner,” Patrick Wilcken, Amnesty International USA’s researcher for arms control, security and human rights told the Middle East Eye in 2020.

Activists have spoken out against the training exercises since they gained popularity after the attacks on 9/11, with Israel marketing itself as a global leader in counterterrorism. JINSA alone has sent at least 200 American police officers to Israel for training in the wake of 9/11 and has hosted 10 conferences across the United States, with a combined attendance of over 10,500 law enforcement personnel.

Meanwhile, the New York Police Department (NYPD) even has its own branch in Israel, opened at the Sharon District Police Headquarters in 2012. In fact, the department’s discriminatory Muslim surveillance program was modeled in part, after Israel’s surveillance program used on Palestinians in the West Bank.

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) in 2003 also established a special office in Israel, which has institutionalized the relationship between Israeli and American law enforcement.

Because of Israel’s notoriety for its excessive use of force tactics, many human rights groups have launched campaigns trying to end the US-Israeli police training programs. "

Your source is not quite accurate with it's title....

If you read the article, it talks about the "Bucks County, Pennsylvania, local law enforcement participated in a controversial counter-terrorism training program based on Israeli military tactics", not Bucks County police being trained by Israeli forces.

Notice the italicized and bolded wording there. Training based on something, is not training by someone.

What does it matter whether or not they get the same training in Israel or at home? It's the type of training that is at issue.

Counter-terrorism training is an issue?

Your article was pushing a false narrative that the Us was sending police officers to Israel to get trained by the IDF. Do you not see the problem with that?

This was my first source:

‘Deadly Exchange’: US sends hundreds of law enforcement to Israel to learn ‘worst practices’ from IDF

The second source simply confirmed that this type of training has been ongoing for a long time.

Do you not see the problem with this 'worst practices' training using IDF tactics? If not, then we are at opposite poles.
