UK Facial recognition
#1
Just seen a video about the roll out of this and it got the wee hamster in ma heed tae sprint full tilt on its wee wheel.

The events around having to wear a mask while out and about during the pandemic was this just a way to fill there data base with the people that would be likely to break laws by not wearing a mask while out in public.

A sneeky way of getting around personal data laws?

Just wait until facial recognition is used in conjunction with drones and law enforcement robots to serve you tickets and warrants in real time for posting illegal memes, breaking  laws, and general bad behavior killing your social credit score in the database.

Or attending protests against the state and it's agents

We're facing the same surveillance takeover in the US

The transition to a total fascist AI surveillance state will happen smoothly because Patriots have already agreed

Obedience and compliance is our duty

You referring to the UK

Quote:Mahmood defends rollout of facial recognition to all police forcesThe government announced plans to increase from 10 to 50 the number of live facial recognition vans available to be deployed as part of reforms to policing.
Human rights and privacy campaigners have raised concerns, describing the announcement as "one of the most significant threats to civil liberties in the history of British policing".

Fortunately with near-field communication, bluetooth, imei sweepers, and ubiquitous mobile phone adoption, heavy-handed and physically invasive methodology such as stop-and-check are no longer necessary. When patrolling public safety, the only necessary intervention will be with the suspicious individuals who chosen to leave their phones at home, for "some reason".

It has been used since Blair/Brown Nu-Labour days as part of Forward Intelligence Team - they're the ones in the lighter blue marked vests during protests but it is (currently) completely legal to buy clothes and transparent polarised make-up that defeats all CCTV. The traditional problem with the tech is it has a very low level of accuracy - the darker the skin tone, the less accurate the data (also true for incredibly pale people) due to basic physics of light. Equally a lighter skinned person can just go on a sunbed for a few minutes prior to commiting a crirme or excercising righs to protest to trick the cameras.

Gait and voice DNA has also been used since then/2003 bombings so I think the current UK policing focus on facial recognition is a way of admitting current policing and cuts have failed as DPA/GDPR wouldn't apply. The government, police, buisinesses and public all know facial recognition tech doesn't work as a deterent and is only being used as an excuse to justify piss poor performance, total lack of public trust/confidence in police and government

All UK supermarkets have had facial recognition cameras at tills for years under the guise of decreasing shoplifting which clearly hasn't worked as levels have skyrocketed and people doing it know they have little/nothing to fear even with dozens of witnesses with video proof from multiple sources. Facebook/Instagram/Twiiter/any social media have used it for decades to build profiles of everyone.
