Naw, just lock her in a room and play Tegan and Sarah until she admits she's a lesbian. That's more likely to solve her problems ultimately.

It's time to turn our back on this shit show for good.

It kinda seems that way. At least the America as we know it. The mediating diplomatic America that cares about the world is dead. You all get reciprocal tariffs because YOU use and owe US for our exploited graciousness over the years.

Unfortunately, the other 250 million Americans, and even the symptomatic 80, are a demographic and top market that says the rest of world will likely put up with our elected jackasses and relocate manufacturing to Mississippi and the states with the cheapest expected wages.

Trump should know, he invades the semi-autonomous ice sheet of Denmark, America loses the Olympics and World Cup. Almost guaranteed. Banned like Russia.

Is this sarcasming again? That America is not real. You're just figuring that out?

Here, let me make this simple:

The propaganda of Russia? That's America.
The belligerence of Iran? That's America.
The totalitarianism of China? That's America.
The brainwashing of North Korea? That's America.

America excels in weaponized hypocrisy. Amoral, corrupt, murderous. Has been for a long time. Go visit Wounded Knee.

I empathize, I really do; nothing is so nostalgic as childhood, or as wistfully remembered as illusions when they are dispelled. I'm sorry it had to take something as vulgar as Mr Donald J. Trump to accomplish that. But here we are.

The anti-vaccers accomplished one thing anyway, metaphorically: the masks are off. They were useless and never worked anyway.

Okay, the America that feigns altruism and concern for the starving Sub-Saharan aids babies.

There's two types of narcissistic jackasses of note. Of the types that only care about themselves, you have a faux-altrusic vanity one that tries to look magnanimous for world unity. For that intangible essence of humanity. And another that let's you know up front they're a selfish/objectivist prick who uses populist ideals to overtly benefit themselves.

And speaking of the former of those, I don't care if the masks are removed, I want the ones back that pretend to care about a global one love vibe.

I too want a world where I can believe in the Nobel Peace Prize. I wish I could ignore the Americans honoured with that award that have been pioneers of ariel bombardment and the calculus of collateral damage. I can't. It makes me somewhat... cynical.

If living that idealism requires a level of sociopathy that can convincingly lie about it, maybe we should find a different way to live it. Maybe that cognitive dissonance, and the increasing effort required to maintain it in today's America, is what is making us all neurotic. I read the NYT every day, not because they're the best at delivering facts, or because I agree with the opinions much, or find it relevant to my life, but because they're the best at pretending the kind of above-it-all level of civilization and honesty that at one time I thought we really wanted for America and the world. In fact, not in pretense. It's just not believable any more. Hasn't been for decades now, really. Fake. But I still wish it weren't.

And that's why I'm saying give up the mask. The corpse is dead. Scatter the ashes. It's gross to keep pretending. Does no good.

And quit feeling sorry about it.

The proverbial don't cry because it's over, smile because it once was.

We can argue that America's shining example never was; it was an illusion trapped behind the incredible resources early America had and the freedom of the business-minded to capitalize on those resources without too much governmental or monarchial influence. Uncle Sam's charity was born in its abundance the shipping, railroad, and land barrons/companies made so much money it was bound to spill over and attract the huddled masses. Make no mistake though there was plenty of graft and corruption but it was outshined by the buckets of cash

I had a history teacher who insisted it wasn't just America was bountiful, but much of the Western world was tittering on the brink, we all know the results of the potato famine in Ireland and other upheavals throughout Europe. America was new and shiny and the UK and Europe were old and worn out and used up.

Uncle Sam has had many dalliances and disputes all over the globe, now he is a bit worn out and disillusioned after 240 years. This is him getting a long overdue colonoscopy to identify the bug up his azz. No doubt the doctor will put him on a strict diet.

One can't expect it to perform to the same capacity it did in its earlier years. There are ebbs and flows in all our relationships big and small, life is ever-changing improvise, adapt, overcome.

Hopefully, that's what America is doing,

HOPEFULLY, we can address our domestic concerns and find a way to finally send a few dollars to the rest of the world

You prefer liars like Bono to people that straight up say they are dicks? Why is that?

• Potential for Statelessness:

Renouncing your U.S. citizenship without acquiring another nationality can lead to statelessness, meaning you won't be a citizen of any country and may lack the protection of any government.
------------
We were in a drunken liberal conversation yesterday and the best option we could think of was to try Denmark.

You have to be in Denmark to try to declare it, but we thought there might be a pathway via empathizing with them over Trump and Greenland.

Still, legitimately renouncing your citizenship is like quitting your job. You get a new one before you get to do this.

The 'poignancy' of imagining that conversation in my mind played out something like my memory of this hysterical sad woman in San Francisco.

We were in the (censored) embassy in San Francisco to renew my wife's (censored) passport , (she is a proud European of (censored) nationality and I support her keeping her nationality and national pride. I wouldn't give up my US citizenship, I support and am proud of my country for it's attempts if anything else) .

While we were sitting there waiting for the young clerk to see us, this American woman of Asian descent comes in to the embassy looking distraught.  Long story short, she starts crying and becoming publicly hysterical proclaiming 'Trump is ruining the country, I cannot stand to be here and be American anymore!'  It was really a sight to behold.

Long story short, she was hoping that because her long lost Uncle or Grandparent (I forget) was a citizen of this (censored) country, that (censored) used to be a colonial ruler of, that she could claim and get this foreign citizenship for herself ,and renounce her US one.  All because of Trump. In my opinion really sad, short sighted, and a bit pathetic.

And this was during the first term, I hazard to think what she is doing now that he is serving a second term.

What they lie about?

Bono lies about giving a F* about humanity, but actually puts effort into doing good, which is still a net gain.

Trump lies about paying off porn stars, blackmailing foreign leaders, project 2025, and abusing 13 year olds.

And I don't find his straight-shooting style refreshing. Seen it. Satanic personality types wear thin quickly.

I wish he'd go get the fucking Zaphod Beeblebrox surgery and remove the antisocial part of his mind. To make his character more "Presidential."

I will willingly admit I prefer the Status Quo NWO Bitch model. I prefer Crooked Joe (as named by the King of Projection and Deflection) to go to Eastern Europe and try to be threatening to Putin in defence of article V... for civilized progressive world unity BS.

And while I'm glad Trump's being honest about loopholing the constitution for a third term, I mean this when I say, "over my dead fake hope for humanity."

And that's it then.

Let the campaigning for the inevitable begin. Just don't jail our pick in The 51st State Prison Camp Colony, like he's Nalvany or something.

Go Bono-President! I'll campaign like I still believe in the lie and everything.

I understand where you're coming from. Trump is irritating and embarrassing at times even to people who support his agenda.  And I hope you don't think Navalny and Newsome are anything alike!
