He is supposed to be POTUS, upholding the US Constitution and laws.

Instead, he is just tramping all over them.

I doubt he will remain in power long, though. He is already the oldest President in US history and is quite unpopular.

My guess is that the next POTUS will prosecute and recover the illegally gained wealth of the Trump family and inner circle.

Once the propaganda and the figurehead is removed, and the full truth revealed, it is likely that the legacy of Trump will become a cautionary tale that will shape US politics for future decades.

In the past, organized crime in the USA has been taken down by 'untouchables' - law enforcers who could not be bribed and who acted out of justice, with high personal integrity, and for the law.

That's the sort of President the US needs to get it back on track to the high ideals of its forefathers.

Nah it was earlier than that.

The 'red scare' and the 'cold war' were big factors in building fear of enemies that did not really exist.

I think Hoover's suppression of civil rights was a catalyst behind the notion that government should be allowed excesses in terms of secrecy and control.

And, of course, there is the farewell address of U.S. President Dwight D. Eisenhower, warning about the rise of the military/industrial complex.

And Nixon's corruption and secret government operations got exposed by Watergate.

And then Glasnost occurred (while Reagan was POTUS) and the traditional external enemy (who never actually manifested) evaporated, so the search for substitute 'enemies' turned inwards.

And then the Internet quickly escalated social media driven conspiracy theories, and in a big way propelled Trumb into the Presidency on the wave of innuendo and distrust of existing government, at the same time promoting new levels of rabid artificial division between the Democratic and the Republican parties.

And, of course, there is now the false myth of a past where there was somehow "greater glory" and "everything was better" than exists now (just like those Italian Fascists and German Nazi's kept suggesting needed reclaiming, too), and those at the 'bottom of the IQ bell curve' now totally believe it.

That, coupled with the fact that voting in the US isn't mandatory, and so 'normal' people just don't vote. Only the radicalized and extremists go ape-shit for 'their' team in the biggest of popularity contests (and isn't it a spectacle - for an administrator?). And yet, in a country of 330 million eligible voters, only 275 actual EC votes make the selection of who is POTUS and VPOTUS (might have worked for the 18th Century hicks, but in the modern world, it is systematized elites and corruption).


So, corruption, elites, money and power are how the USA is governed - damn 'the people'. Who do they think they are. Know your place - consume, be silent & die.
