Tree eating monster bigass bug
#1
My partner and I came out of my apartment some years back and
hanging in a young birch tree. Maybe about 11 am but spinning
some kind of web like material from it's rear end. As we walked
out on to the second story landing there was this something of
somekind of huge ass bug up there level with us in the tree. I
mean the rear end on this thing was as big as my fist and I got
large hands.

But anyway the creepy part was as we walked right by it to catch
the stairs going down. It was just the way this thing was able to
turn it's head and look at us as we walked by. That gave me
goosies and I just wanted the hell away from it. Started push'n
Jimmy down the stairs say'n gogogogo. Never seen one
before and haven't seen one since. This was Fontana Ca. and I've
searched a lot trying to find this tree eating monster potatao bug
looking thing. Now I did the best rendition of it I could muster
and still trying to ID the damn thing. Maybe this is where find
something out?

Help a guy out if anybody knows what he's called?

Im sitting out in the front garden here in bonny Scotland(Glasgow), about 5 or 6 years ago.

Nice day, suns in the sky, about 3 pm, middle of July, about 70 degrees.

And this big dragonfly-looking mofo flies past.

Making a queer high-pitched hum/soft whirring noise.

The thing is, it was enormous.

Must have had a wingspan of about 30cm, and a body about 15cm long!

I have never seen an insect that size here in Scotland before or ever again...
"Yet so it is, we see the illiterate bulk of mankind that walk the high-road of plain common sense, and are governed by the dictates of nature, for the most part easy and undisturbed. To them nothing that is familiar appears unaccountable or difficult to comprehend."

It left me with the wierdest feeling as time went on realising it must have been
a very rare creature. As I'm sure you know from what you saw. Scotland I envy
you. The stripes on that huge bulbus body were just unique. Like I said I been
digging every once in a while and failed to come up with anything. Shouldn't
be hard if it's a known organism.

Paddling up at More River and this tiny spider landed in my kayak, it was silver, looked like a drop of solder, literally solder, no bigger than about 5mm in size.
Never seen anything like it, never seen anything again.
Guess it camouflaged itself like a drop of dew on a branch or grass but was unique

Never tried looking it up to see if it was in a catagory? For me it just won't
go away til I know what is was. Tried a lot of different searches. I'd be
stoked to find it's pic some where cause creating it's likeness wasn't an
easy go for me. :)

Not even! That's a potato bug they aren't pale white with red stripes or as big as my fist.
But body style works of course. Again the mandibles looked like they would sever a
human head if it was our size. I appreciate the response tho.
