I always found the cannibalism aspect of Christianity mystifying. Flesh and blood etc. I don't know. I guess there would have to be reasons for it in Satanism as well, which may have had a similar point of origin. I am not really steeped in the esoteric or religious texts...
It's got nothing to do with cannibalism. It's symbolic of Jesus' sacrifice for us in dying for us, giving His body for us, with the cup of wine being symbolic of the New Covenant sealed by His blood. Christians are to celebrate the Lord's Supper in memory and as a reminder of Jesus and His sacrifice for them. As often as we eat this bread and drink this cup, we proclaim the Lord’s death until He comes.
When the hour had come, he sat down with the twelve apostles. He said to them, “I have earnestly desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer, for I tell you, I will no longer by any means eat of it until it is fulfilled in God’s Kingdom.” He received a cup, and when he had given thanks, he said, “Take this and share it amongst yourselves, for I tell you, I will not drink at all again from the fruit of the vine, until God’s Kingdom comes.” He took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke and gave it to them, saying, “This is my body which is given for you. Do this in memory of me.” Likewise, he took the cup after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is poured out for you. But behold, the hand of him who betrays me is with me on the table. The Son of Man indeed goes as it has been determined, but woe to that man through whom he is betrayed!” They began to question amongst themselves which of them it was who would do this thing. (Luke 22:14-23)

The Son of Man goes even as it is written of him, but woe to that man through whom the Son of Man is betrayed! The cup of blessing which we bless, isn’t it a sharing of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, isn’t it a sharing of the body of Christ? Because there is one loaf of bread, we, who are many, are one body; for we all partake of the one loaf of bread. (1 Corinthians 10:16-17)

Your boasting is not good. Don’t you know that a little yeast leavens the whole lump? Purge out the old yeast, that you may be a new lump, even as you are unleavened. The New Covenant:
For finding fault with them, he said, “Behold, the days are coming”, says the Lord, “that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah; not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt; for they didn’t continue in my covenant, and I disregarded them,” says the Lord. “For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days,” says the Lord: “I will put my laws into their mind; I will also write them on their heart. I will be their God, and they will be my people. They will not teach every man his fellow citizen and every man his brother, saying, ‘Know the Lord,’ for all will know me, from their least to their greatest. For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness. I will remember their sins and lawless deeds no more.” (Hebrews 8:8-12)
