Of course, there are dozens of more likely and mundane explanations, but it isn't 100%. I can be there 90% there myself, but there is still that 10% of me saying 'what if"

Yah, I feel you. I'm mostly in the same stance. Seems like the 'one size fit all' explanation never works in any 'high strangeness' event. We might need to re-evaluate how we look at one event.

There might be several factors at play everytime, probably not always the same ones, nor with the same values. This particular event fits the bill too.

Could be interesting to look if there was any other 'sightings' or 'phenomena' within the area, both at the time of the event at the mall, and after (something like during the month).

Another avenue would be to find if there were any social tension that could compel psi phenomena, both at a personal and social level.

Finally, there's also the possibility of a physically unconventional entity that poked its nose in the mess.

Has body-cam footage been released?  I know Florida is very open with making those recordings public.  (guilty pleasure - watching bodycam videos of jokers getting owned)

The lack of public footage is very unusual, and not to be casually dismissed.
The outrageously over-the-top police response also merits some attention... (although overlapped police paranoia about uncontrollable crowd issues and angst to "use" force might be at play as well.) 

Whenever 4 teenagers are rowdy and being stupid as they hang out at the Mall... do you think the police go on "high alert" and prep a paramilitary operation to secure a Mall?

smart tvs have a "feature" where several times a second, the image on-screen is reduced to a single hash-code number, and the sequence of those is continuously uploaded to the internet, allowing content identification even for things like locally-streamed movies, old dvds, etc -- whatever's played back on screen. it take a very small amount of data.

phones have a similar feature for cloud-hosted images and videos, to filter against "known csam" and block the content while reporting it to authorities.

it would be foolish to think that there's not a convert version of this "feature" for blocking and suddenly disappearing video or images that may be deemed a threat to national security.

Putting myself in the role of trying to control such things... I would have nearly zero confidence in the effectiveness of an algorithmic sanitizing process...  to my mind, it only functions in a virtual world.

Like setting the leaves on fire in a forest, thinking "It's OK... I have a fire extinguisher." 

But I get your point, and it is hard to imagine that someone isn't at least trying.

On a second look... why desperately smother this event with machinations to limit information?

Complicity?  'Dereliction of duty' to conceal?
Abject faith in the establishment myth that "People can't handle the truth?" 
It kind of eludes me.

In doing more research on this, people reported that a group of kids plugged in a device that looked like a DVD player. They said the device opened a portal that these beings came out of. They also said the being were glitching in and out.

Dam, that's wild. What's even more wild is if you reverse the co-ordinates of where this incident occurred you get... Antarctica

Now, I don't think some super advanced aliens inputted the wrongs coords, but I could see a human, say, operating that technology inputting the wrong coords, after all, we do get Muxxed ip sometimes.

it seems like an excessive police dispatch for an allegedly fight between teenagers firing up fireworks. Some people's in the discussion at Reddit says is totally justified for a possible active public shooting but what is not justified is that there's zero footage of the incident. Zero.
In our time and age of 2024 with practically every teen owning a phone in a busy Miami mall. That's beyond strange and very much questionable.

This smacks of an information exercise...

According to my sources this is old TikTok news.. they "sorted this all out with footage and everything."

Except all footage available is AFTER the responders arrived.  And nothing from the event itself that wasn't 'directly acquired.'

Or do I have that wrong?... I'm not trying to besmirch the cumulative analytical powers of professional screen-tappers... just I don't feel comfortable simply accepting a TikTok consensus at face value.
