The Kennedy Center is broke, received 78 million a year in appropriations in 2020 from the government plus received 25 million from COVID-19 in 2020 relief and an additional 40 million in 2021 do the math

LOL 470 million from US tax dollars approximately since 2020 and TKC broke as in zero operating funds and reserves. WTH and I love the Kennedy Center and think it needs funding but IT CANNOT operate at a loss with so much FEDERAL moola being appropriated.

I was briefed today by the CFO of the Kennedy Center on its financial situation. She told me there is ZERO cash on hand. And ZERO in reserves. And the deferred maintenance is a crisis. For the past months they’ve been digging into the DEBT RESERVES. We must fix this great

-Grok, how much Federal money has the Kennedy Center received from 2020 to currently? Based on the web search results provided, from 2020 to the current date specified (February 12, 2025), the Kennedy Center has received the following federal funding: In 2020, through the CARES Act, the Kennedy Center received a $25 million earmark. In fiscal year 2021, the Kennedy Center was allocated an additional $40.4 million, which includes $26.4 million for "operation, maintenance, and security" and $14 million for "capital repair and restoration." However, there's no specific data provided for the years 2022, 2023, and 2024 in the given information. The Kennedy Center typically receives an annual appropriation, which in fiscal year 2020 was $78.2 million, including non-COVID related funds. Where's all the money?

and/or straight embezzlement ...

Thats the thing with governmental budgeting, most times if not all the time, if you don't use your allotted funds you won't have as much budgeted for the next year, the wildcard is COVID though 25 million for operating expenses alone sounds high AF with the knowledge getting one government contract saves so many businesses.

All it takes is a couple of people with no scruples, it wouldn't be the first time.

I understand that corruption exists as a function of trust.  Trust is not always placed where we might agree...

But it really adds extra irritation that this actually could happen...
do they approach their trusted appointments with the first agenda item being "Take all you can, give nothing back?"
