Good thing Trump is about to show Xi the belly and bail on Taiwan. Stand up leader that he is and all. I dont know, Trump did bring the Nividia CEO with him, so we are deifinitely going to get assurances for semiconductors if Trump about faces on Taiwan or renegs on the 14 billion dollar arms deal. It's still not a given he throws Taiwanese sovereignty under the One China bus of Hong Kong for the deal...
Mandarin is the #3 or #4 language in CA. If you count rich Chinese kids at UC schools it jumps to over 1 million speakers, but without them it falls to 4th behind Tagalog. But with them is the reality.
This incident with the Mayor Spy Propaganda Puppet, says China looks across that ocean at America's West Coast with hopeful eyes the final breakdown has begun..
And I dont want an ugly 90s McDonald's colored flag....
Even if in a few hundred years it could be like the Sino Firefly/Serenity World and we can all use explitives like "tā mā de" and "shén me guǐ!"
And everywhere will look like Space Macau.

But to be an optimist about it... At least in a few hundred years it could be the Sino Firefly/Serenity World and we can all use explitives like "tā mā de" and "shén me guǐ!"

It may come to be that other countries will be looking at China's great rise of success and want to get into the action, like Taiwan seems to be slowly heading in that direction. China won't have to invade Taiwan - all they have to do is play the waiting game.
Those across the ocean may also want to take a 'fast boat to China' to make mutually beneficial deals with a country that can be a trusted trade partner.

Without trying to throw the thread, can someone help out here?
With regards to Trump in China, in Xi’s turf, during a tariff tit-for-tat, during a “war” with Iran suggesting serious geopolitical implications, WWIII among them, a railway straight to Iran for “trade”, ahem, and rising inflation at home, etc, what cards exactly is Trump holding during this trip?
Seems like a wing and a prayer. In fact why is he even over there at this time?
Does Eileen Wang and the implications even make the convo?

All I can see is that Trump does not look very happy.

I remember this story some years back and thought it rather odd that the CCP could set us shop in the states to keep tabs on their citizens abroad without repercussion.
In fact I was rather galled that this was even a thing. Like wtf is a Chinese Police station doing in NYC? How did this pass the smell test or even get greenlit in the first place?

From what I am learning is that they behave differently within their culture than we do in the West. It has been described as being in a 'family' rather than what we believe to be an oppressive dictatorship. While people in the West look at it as a policing type situation, to Chinese nationals they look at it very much differently.

Oh I’m sure that’s the case. Being that as it may, the “family” thing is still a “Big Brother keeping tabs” issue, not a, “Hope to see ya at the reunion picnic” one.
Regardless, I’m still not sure how this was even allowed to fly at all. Sure wouldn’t be reciprocated. Like no country would do this for the U.S., and I wouldn’t want it that way either.
Embassies are different imo.

Hang on.
Is this how they view us, or you spitballing?
Because I remember reading some rather eyebrow-raising views in a report put forth by a venerated and esteemed Chinese general on how they view the West right around 2020, when they were dealing with Hong Ling students and then a virus dropped onto the global stage…
They didn’t jibe with what you’re saying. At all.
