LLMs... repositories of all the things we've selected to take as axiomatic... reduced to linguistic interpretations... and then calling the output "new research."

By logic and even (I think) definition... this is not AI nor can it perform anything "agentic," it's just a tool.

LLMs (even one masquerading as an "AI") should only serve in meta research... not pure research... it requires auditing and editorship that the actual researcher is supposed to do.. the premise of the researcher themselves... not some synthetic homogenized pabulum... but then I suppose "appearances" usually suffice...

Most are calling it AI... in publications and media.
"New" specificity of the matter in the headline makes my point for me...
sort of like how "COVID" was "novel."

LLM is a biproduct of AI design at its core. 
ML(Machine Learning) and deep learning are the at the core of a productive LLM. 

The predictive text that we had many moons ago is also built using and is narrow AI.

AI is learning, reasoning and mixed with problem solving a perception(i.e. date influx and understanding)

All digital very soon. Hell in all reality your paper money is just a representation of a digital currency. It truly holds no value as you are not the sole dead owner of the serial on that note.
Same goes for your digital currency in your bank account. That is not your money. The government is just letting you think it belongs to you.

I thought it had no actual value because it has no baking by gold or silver. 

It's only value for many years now is the trust people put in it to be honored as actual currency.
