Now thats a conspiracy
Too many pages or too close to the TRUTH?. RIP SLED735!!!
ATS had a problem with long threads (besides many other problems...). It started by messing the page numbers and they could become unreadable it they got too long, but that was hundreds of pages long, not tens.

In this thread I am going to talk about my ATS archive, the copy I made of the posts, threads and forums from ATS before it became inaccessible.
I know other people also made their own copies, and their opinions, comments, etc. are welcome.
After all, my idea was to preserve all the information ATS members created during all those years.
At the end of last year I was able to create a site to show the information with a look similar to ATS when viewed by a someone not logged in, but because of threats of legal action because of (possible) copyright problems made me take the site offline and make it private, as I'm not interested in having problems with something I thought was good for everyone.
So, at the moment, this is what I have:
- 14 public boards, including one for forums that got "orphaned" for some reason;
- 121 forums, including the "orphaned" forums mentioned above;
- 780.643 threads;
- 22.902.993 posts.
A couple of weeks ago I remembered that I didn't have any posts from the huge "Japan declares 'nuclear emergency' after quake" thread, as some kind of problem made it disappear from view.
Using the Internet Archive's Wayback Machine I was able to recreate the first 304 pages, but that thread had more than 1400, so it's still a work in progress.
Bravo ArMap good stuff and thumbs up!

And I need time, working 10 or 11 hours each day doesn't leave a lot of free time.
After ATS, I wasn't going to create an account here...
I just wanted to say thank you for your efforts, I hope you are successful!
It would be a gem to have those resources availble, even if just for posterity.
There were some resources that were ongoing for years, the stargate thread, japan, "Q" threads, will there be a way to continue these threads? will they be editable?
If the truth hurts, then you are doing something wrong.

No. The archive will be read only.

For them to be editable they would need to be imported, somehow, into some forum software, I don't know if it's possible, most forums may have a way of importing from other forum databases, but my copy doesn't follow any specific forum structure, it's just the basic information.
PS: the Japan thread was not available on ATS at the time I copied the posts, so I could only use the Wayback Machine and recover the first 304 pages.

I'm still quite excited to have this resource locally.
Am continuing to stand by! Thank you for all your work!

I just want to congratulate you on your achievement. Although it appears to be somewhat of a labor of love, it must have taken significant work.
Also, I had found difficulty finding things on ATS. Will there be an enhanced search of the archive?

It took mostly time, as the method I used was not as fast as it could have been (I only thought of the solution after ATS was closed) and I was updating it tow two or three times a week, expecting ATS go close or disappear at any moment.
Regarding the search, the site I had (temporarily) online had a search function. It was a little slow, but it worked.
