The ATS archive

The way Elon  musk aggressively put a bid for twitter, is there a way for a smaller entity to do that with the ATS brand rights? Just curious if some kind of path like that exists for ... curiosity sake.

Hi I noticed this comment. Do you need a dedicated hard drive to help facilitate this process?? This is regarding the thread about the ATS archive. I want to assist where I can if small things are timed badly money wise, I would like to assist.

First of all, I need to organise myself, at first I didn't even had the space for the database. Smile

And I need time, working 10 or 11 hours each day doesn't leave a lot of free time.

I have wondered about that myself. I know there were some registered names (most have expired, if I'm not confusing things), but i know nothing about US companies and related legislation.

I started doing that. Smile

I created all the forum index pages (15681 pages) and, after compressed with 7zip they occupy 34.4 MB. Uncompressed it's 552 MB.

Thats great progress! The thread index is going to suck Biggrin it will be enormous i imagine

I created the files for all threads from the "Breaking Alternative News", "Mainstream News", "2024 Elections", "World War Three", "Propaganda Mill", "FOIA Documents", "Wikileaks-Unbanned!!" and "Whistle Blowers And Leaked Documents" forums (the forums from the first two boards on the main page).

177,979 files, 3.81 GB, compressed with 7Zip's ultra compression, 458MB.
Those files correspond to 80,063 threads and 2,307,704 posts, my database has 780,254 threads and 22,899,070, so I suppose all threads and posts would be something like 4 or 5GB, compressed (30 or 40GB uncompressed).
Without images.

Then I noticed I had made a mistake with my code to create the pages, so I deleted them all and started again. Smile

I think I will change the code to have separate folders for each forum, having millions of files in one folder is not a good idea. Biggrin

Edited to add that I changed my mind, I'm not going to create separate folders, that would break the internal links from one thread to another (or it would take extra work to see what thread the link was pointing to and to what forum, so the link could be changed).

Im glad it wont be too big at least you didnt try to do it all at once and crash in memory and have to start over Biggrin

I think you've got a handle on it now for sure ArMaP im excited to see your results ^.^

Linking and keeping the structure is why I said its going to suck.
Every thread ID to its forum

Im glad the size isn't too much to bare its a pretty crazy project lol

You got this!  [Image: applause.gif]

In this thread I am going to talk about my ATS archive, the copy I made of the posts, threads and forums from ATS before it became inaccessible.

I know other people also made their own copies, and their opinions, comments, etc. are welcome.
After all, my idea was to preserve all the information ATS members created during all those years.

At the end of last year I was able to create a site to show the information with a look similar to ATS when viewed by a someone not logged in, but because of threats of legal action because of (possible) copyright problems made me take the site offline and make it private, as I'm not interested in having problems with something I thought was good for everyone.

So, at the moment, this is what I have:
- 14 public boards, including one for forums that got "orphaned" for some reason;
- 121 forums, including the "orphaned" forums mentioned above;
- 780.643 threads;
- 22.902.993 posts.

A couple of weeks ago I remembered that I didn't have any posts from the huge "Japan declares 'nuclear emergency' after quake" thread, as some kind of problem made it disappear from view.
Using the Internet Archive's Wayback Machine I was able to recreate the first 304 pages, but that thread had more than 1400, so it's still a work in progress.

I printed out all my converstaion about Sleep Paralysis and UFO's back from 2018-2020 on a Paranormal Thread by SLED735. Its over 21 pages among many members. The thread was shut down for exceeding too many pages by DONT TREAD ON ME.

Now thats a conspiracy

Too many pages or too close to the TRUTH?.  RIP SLED735!!!

Go for it. I assummed that ATS was a INTEL respository embedded with spies globally. Sorta like MUFON and NUFORC. IMO many are among us here.  You mean to tell me that the "owners" could not start a pay wall for $4.99 a month?
