Normally - such things are "branded" [HOAX]... but that tag is so harsh that it seems impertinent
to refuse the conversation that followed... You guys nailed it so quickly... frankly, I'm kind of proud.

This is not a 'ding' on the OP... and thank you for making this site great! - Maxmars]

Tesla Phone For $189 and a life time subscription to Star Link !!!! I would think there are some internet and cell phone tower business models scrambling to try and figure out what to do next ?

I just hope the phone lives up to it's hype and if so I will be lining up to purchase one. I am satisfied with my Samsung but living out in the sticks the reception on certain days could be better.  Wonder if the phones will work under a metal roof ?

Looks promising.
What's the catch?
I'll be needing a new phone next year.....

I'll consider it, I read that an unlimited package of free home internet at 100 megabytes per second  and free installation will cost forty bucks a month.  Not bad of a price, but most likely, there is no satelite to serve the U.P. of Michigan.

If the price is truly $189, I’m buying two... not sure what I’ll do with the other one.   Spin

Put it in the freezer in case of emp. It just might work afterwords if all the satalites don't get wiped out. Spotty service is better than none in that case.

Oh, don't forget a solar and hand crank generator for it.
I know too much and question everything.
Does anyone know the minimum safe distance of ignorance?
Did anyone ask the monkeys how much fun the barrel actually was?

Google says this is a internet hoax.
Quote:No, the Tesla phone is not out, and there is no official confirmation from Tesla that it is being developed. Rumors of a "Tesla Pi Phone" with features like Starlink connectivity and solar charging are viral social media claims, but they are not official news. Elon Musk has stated that Tesla would only consider making a phone if their apps were restricted on other platforms.

Sure this is real?

Like David points out, Google says it's fake.
"Yet so it is, we see the illiterate bulk of mankind that walk the high-road of plain common sense, and are governed by the dictates of nature, for the most part easy and undisturbed. To them nothing that is familiar appears unaccountable or difficult to comprehend."

Didn't think Starlink had the latency low enough to support VOIP in any usable fashion.  I hope I'm wrong.  Big-brother concerns aside, this is some really cool tech.

Also considering how a SL modem costs like $400 (I could be wrong), this would be a great option for those traveling or living/working in remote areas

I think this is fake. During Elon’s last visit to the Joe Rogan Experience, he said he has zero plans on making a phone.

Welcome to CGI/AI and immoral purposes...

While it interests me as well... I automatically scrutinize "press release journalism" as if I know
it's all an advertisement for "something."

I actually thought about considering this a 'miss.'
But now that we see it's someone's idea of "marketing"
and may be a incidental hoax...

it has value as an example of something.... just not Tesla 'phones.'

Unless we are mistaken and this is a marketing game by the company itself.
