Teacher was fired for refusing to call children by their preferred pronouns

If your real name is Paul and you want to be called Nikki you have every right to do so and the teacher who teaches you have zero right not to call you by your new name and identity. If they don't then they will be fired or even have their careers terminated.

I disagree.

If your real name is Paul, what you want to be called is an irrelevancy.

You have no "right" to arbitrarily decide one day that the world is responsible for acquiescing to your wants.

If it is so important to you to change your name, then change it... re-register under that name (and your parent would have to do that assuming you are a minor.)
The teacher does not exist to 'protect' your wants and desires.  Their function is to teach the curriculum.  The student is there to learn, not wallow in their sexuality obsessed perceptions.  The act of learning has no gender.

If people went so far as to make it a whimsical "identity crisis" matter, all student would need to be referred by a number... so as to avoid the situation entirely.
But then numbers don't convey "identity feelings" which is the real problem here.  Number 17 is number 17 regardless of how he or she 'feels' about it.
