I come bearing more from Comey's thriller. Lol

About that Tarmac meeting between A.G Loretta Lynch and Bill Clinton-

Comey brings this up on pages 178-& 179. I'm trying to make sense of this because it connects to the Clinton e-mails...

"This made very real the prospect that the classified material related to Loreta Lynch might drop at any moment, not decades from now. The release of that material, the truth of which we had not verified, would allow partisans to argue, powerfully, that the Clinton campaign, through Lynch, had been controlling the FBI's investigation."

Comey simply dismisses the meeting but when Comey believes that Lynch acted oddly...
"In the middle of the firestorm, the attorney general rejected calls that she recuse herself from the Hillary Clinton investigation altogether. Instead, on Friday, July 1, she chose a very strange position--that she would not remove herself, but would accept my recommendation about the case and that of career prosecutors at Justice."

"In effect she was removing herself but not removing herself. Again, very strange."

Now Comey was placed in the unique position of directing the investigation. He could have called for a special prosecutor, who would be independent if that's possible. Why didn't Comey do this? Instead he cloaks this as a moral issue- this coming from someone who constantly beats the law drum.

This is not reassuring "A world-class FBI team had investigated Hillary Clinton for a year- and all of them- to a person- believed there was no prosecutable case. Calling for a special prosecutor now would imply there was something to the case..."

Comey has constantly stressed the importance that the FBI remain outside of either political party, so using this reason he decided to step away from Loretta Lynch and then he did something most strange-

Comey decided that the FBI was going to offer its views to the public quickly. On July 5th he announced the end of the case, a mere 3 days after the Clinton interview. "Unless of course Hillary Clinton lied to us when we finally conducted our interview with her on July 2, 2016.

Considering Clinton's high profile case the FBI finally conducted their interview, why didn't Comey attend or oversee the interrogation. I'm not certain why they felt the need to deliver her secretly to the FBI basement on the Saturday morning of the Independence Day 3 day weekend.
Comey informs us that his only role was to make the final decision.

This is really unbelievable- "We also as a matter of procedure don't tape interviews of people not under arrest." Wow They just use note takers so who knows what was written down.

It gets worse if that's possible- It is, it is.

"Secretary Clinton was not placed under oath during the interview" because that's policy apparently. They are stupid.com.

This is just so strange. Once again we have Comey acting outside his role. Shouldn't Loretta Lynch have been more involved.

When he informed the public he made the decision  and made  that no questions would be permitted.
For someone who wants badly to become attorney general in the future he takes some extraordinary risks.
Maybe this is why Eric Holder reached out to him dangling the AG job in the future. A thanks for a job well done.

More Comey strangeness. One would expect that he would have coordinated this with the Justice Department.

Sally Yates made no comment. Oddly she was AG for 10 days.

Remember President Trump has been wearing a gold tie. Page 185 we have a gold tie connection. When Comey made this announcement he decided to wear a gold tie so that he wouldn't be seen as being on either side.
"What made this unusual was that the FBI director- to protect both institutions was stepping out front to make the announcement separate from the Department of Justice leadership. That decision was made knowing it put me in the line of fire from all sides of the political spectrum."

This is starting to make sense in a sort of twisted way.
Now to deal with Obama and Comey's relationship. It's crystal clear that Comey was very loyal to Obama.

Page 119-

Obama said something to Comey that we should reflect on.

"In a way, this and the Supreme Court are the 2 most important personnel decisions a president makes, because I'm choosing for the future. You will be here long after I'm gone."  "He said there was great value in that long tenure and hoped if I was made director, I would help the new president."

Obama then probed Comey about investigating leak cases and the need for a free press. Comey indicated that he could find a balance. Then moving on to his position about using drones to take out terrorists.

Obama had a unique view of the role of the FBI director.

"I don't want help from the FBI on policy. I need competence and independence. I need to sleep at night knowing the place is well run and the American people protected."

Once Comey was announced as the new Director of the FBI Obama met him in the oval office with his WH counsel and explained they were never to meet again. Page 119.

Now after the defeat of Clinton he along with others were in a national security meeting and Obama asked him to stay behind.

So now they are alone.

"I picked you to be the FBI director because of your integrity and ability. I want you to know that nothing- nothing- has happened in the last year to change my view."

Comey states that he was so overwhelmed with Obama's remarks that he came close to tears.
"The last thing we wanted was to be involved in an election. I'm just trying to do the right thing."

"Mr. President, my wife would kill me if I didn't take the opportunity to thank you and tell you how much I'm going to miss you."

"I DREAD THE NEXT 4 YEARS, BUT IN SOME WAY I FEEL PRESSURE TO STAY".
Chapter 12 Trump Tower page 210-

[AND] because seeking the truth is what we are all about .  .  . the
possibility-even the perception- that that quest may be tainted
deeply troubles us, as long as it should.
ROBERT M. GATES, DIRECTOR OF CENTAL INTELLIGENCE

We may not have this information. January 6, 2017, before the Inauguration the FBI, along with 3 other agencies were sneaking into Trump tower to inform President Trump that Russia had interfered in the presidential election.

"At Obama's direction, analysts from the CIA, NSA and FBI, coordinated by senior analysts from ODNI- Office of the Director of National Intelligence- had spent a month pulling together all sources of information."

This was to flesh out the complete picture of the Russian influence in the 2016 election.

This makes me wonder if they were trying to gain control of President Trump. From the book I'm left with the strong impression that this is something that they would try to do. Since he was, he could remain and they were hoping when presented with this evidence he would just follow their script.

Even Comey admits this was all very unusual -
"This was about sharing the most sensitive information, including sources and methods- precisely how we knew what we knew- spelling out in great detail why we had achieved the unusual state of a joint high-confidence opinion that Russia had intervened extensively in the American presidential election."

The first briefing was done with President Trump in the Oval office. Next step was the meeting with the Gang of Eight top officials in Congress both Democrats and Republicans.

Then there was this meeting at Trump tower.

Clapper than dragged out the Steele Dossier...

Once again we have the FBI using apparent "evidence" without ensuring the validity.
"It was assembled by an individual considered reliable, a former intelligence officer, but it had not been formally validated."

But who cares.

At this point many in DC had a copy of it or knew about it. CNN informed the FBI press that they were going to release it the next day.

Clapper decided that Comey should speak with President Trump alone about the contents of the Steele Dossier.
I have to question this- why Comey. Most of the other staff were leaving but he would be left behind to deal with any fall out from this.

Eureka What if this was to be leverage and Comey would be the one controlling or trying to control President Trump?

Comey even in his thought process brings up J. Edgar Hoover, so at least to me this suggest that would not be out of the question.

Of course President Trump called this out as completely bogus.
