El Mencho cartel leader killled leads to cartel violence in Mexico

I spent a week in Puerto Vallarta about 35 years ago. Outside of the resort it was...we'll just say a less than desirable place to go wandering around. Apparently it hasn't gotten any better.

Like anywhere else, there are parts of cities that you should stay away from, especially after dark. It’s all how you look, act and carry yourself.

I have been off the strip in Vegas and felt pretty vulnerable.

This happened in Mazatlán a couple years ago if you remember, after “El Chapo” (I think) was captured and the government and Sinaloa Cartel went at it.

My good friend said that it’s the low-level punks that are causing this problem in an effort to show that they are ready to move up in the gang.

They are known by the local authorities and are being targeted by the military, Federales, Army, Guardia Nacional and the Marina’s.

No one fucks with the Marina’s, ever. In fact I have been told by locals that if I’m in trouble find the Marinas (Marines) if I’m in a seaside town or city.

That’s been my experience…

The Cartels have splintered and are evidently fighting each other for the top dog spot. The old saying of cut the head of the snake off does not work with the Cartels as they are more like a Hydra.

Their unemployment rate seems low, why do they have these issues?

Their unemployment rate is low because over half the jobs are "informal employment" meaning it's off the books kind of work connected to the Cartels in some fashion. The drug trade in Mexico is massive with the Cartels having more power than the government.

Mexican Senator tells who has financed Claudia Sheinbaum's political career which to me says a lot about "the hugs instead of bullets" she once professed was the way to handle the Cartels. Sounded like something one of our USA woke politicians would have said... Which makes me wonder the politicians who want open borders are financed by who ?
