Weirdly enough there's some kinda specious evidence for this happening. It's not as much quackery as the phases of the moon and the tidal forces one.

50 years of data is a pathetic sample size, and beyond 100 years not every event gets recorded.

Like the only reason Cascadia's last 9.0 is dated to 1700 was the "orphan wave" recorded and dated in Japan. Only recording in North America in through oratory. Like Thunderbird. Most are dated by Tsunami layers.

This needs more data, but there *MIGHT* be some solar correlations. Megathrust quakes are so rare that it's not sufficient enough to differentiate from what could just be an appearance of pattern.
