This may lead to another endless debate as to what constitutes "Atlantis". Is the Richat the fabled Ringed City? It must be viewed in the proper context to even start to answer that question. Lidar is not required to see what we can already see. It can only show more of what is already there.
Lidar is not needed to see the thousands of ruins already visible in the region, except when a certain group of "Grave Robbers" have moved, stolen, hidden certain objects that would have confirmed the theory that this area was in fact "Atlantis".

"Rivers periodically flooded and added a layer of silt, while in dry regions the wind was constantly blowing in sand and dust. (The Sphinx was buried up to its head in sand until archaeologists re-excavated it in 1817.)"

I still think I'd like Lidar imaging to see if there is anything under the sands there.

It is true that "some" Cities will build upon the ruins of older settlement, as long as their are populations that remain in the area to do the rebuilding, and a body of Governance to direct it. This is not the case in this area. When the waters dried up, most who were still alive left the area for better conditions. Its not that everyone left at the same time. Some as noted by one or two rebuilt forts (Square) in the Center Island held hope for a hopeless future.
As I pointed out earlier about moving sands, the sands in this area are not very deep. Sand itself can almost move like water, filling low areas where higher areas have no sand cover at all. All dependent on the winds that move it. The sands are not stagnant but can move over time, exposing and then hiding features.
True, Rivers can flood leaving silt buildup in certain areas. But in this area there has been no moving water since roughly 5500BC. The burials in the second ring were done with the original flooding waters of the "Event". They are buried in ancient mud.
The Sand in this area are Ocean sand. How it got here is going to be almost impossible to share, but is understandable if you have a grasp on ancient "Mythology". I have seen how the sands were transported and deposited to ruin this area for use, and also to hide other ruins that lay under those sands. I suspect at one point in the deep past the Pyramids themselves were completely covered, in sand.........
The Rings themselves have little to no sand on them. They are basically sheltered by the mountains from the blowing sands... Ground Penetrating Radar is all that is needed (Which I suspect was done in 1963 by the CIA) GPR has been around since the 1920s.

When the King Tut artifacts tour came to a city near me, I went and was enthralled by what I saw. I still have the book I bought at the gift shop in the late '70s. I would love to see them find Cleopatra/Antony's tomb and have the opportunity to visit that artifacts exhibition.
-----------------
"After a 20-year search, an archaeologist from the Dominican Republic believes she may have finally found the site of Cleopatra's tomb, RadarOnline.com can report.
"Now, in a new National Geographic special, archaeologist Kathleen Martínez and her team have found a sunken port deep in the Mediterranean Sea, about two miles off the coast of Alexandria."
Clue to Cleopatra's Tomb Could Have Been Found After 20 Year Search
--------
"The now-submerged structure is in close proximity to a 4,265-foot underground tunnel that connected the temple to the sea."
"A series of large buildings, “arranged in rows and over 20-feet high,” was also found. The underwater structures included “polished floors, cemented blocks, columns, smooth stone” and “multiple anchors” and storage jars that were “dated to the time of Cleopatra.”
This suggests that the submerged site could have been a port once used by the famous Egyptian queen, per National Geographic."
"Many historians believe that Cleopatra was buried with her love, Mark Antony, in Alexandria — though her tomb has never been found there. Martínez, however, theorizes that Cleopatra may have devised a secret alternative plan for her burial with Antony so that the Romans would not find their bodies.
“She had to choose a location where she could feel safe for her afterlife with Mark Antony,” Martínez explained to the outlet."

Quote:Nevali Çori is an 11,000-year-old city in southeastern Turkey that predates even Göbekli Tepe. This ancient settlement wasn’t just a village — it had monumental buildings, polished floors, and organized communal spaces. Archaeologists discovered T-shaped pillars, ceremonial structures, and early evidence of farming. Nevali Çori may have laid the groundwork for later civilizations, shaping culture, architecture, and rituals. Its existence suggests humans were building advanced societies far earlier than we ever imagined. Given they are talking 'pre-flood' and other creationist nonsense it kinda gives you an idea of their unscientific approach. https://www.shutterstock.com/shutterstoc...990241.jpg, nope not a civilization just another interesting place in the PPNA

This seems a bit confused. Being 11,000 years old would actually make the site younger than Gobekli Tepe, which is dated to 11,500. It's sister site Karahan Tepe is considered a couple of centuries older.
The actual dating of Nevali Cori has it as centuries after Gobekli Tepe was abandoned, around 10,100-10, 400 years ago while Gobekli Tepe was abandoned around 10,000 years ago.
While the earliest discovered domesticated Einkorn wheat was discovered there, it'd be a mistake to make it the source of farming, as again even by their incorrect date agriculture from the Zagross mountains predates it by a thousand years.
