Did they go after nicotine because of money
#1
I didn't quite realize how many doctors back in the day prescribed smoking for various ailments ending in "ITIS" so it was a bit of a non brainer to work out that self-medicating with nicotine must have cost big Pharma a fortune in unrealized profits.  I came across this one by an anti-smoker activist who decides to light up a pipe for various reasons. It is quite amusing.   Staunch Anti-Smoker's Smoking Experiment!

It's a double-edged sword and very controversial in the medical communities. Pick your poison.

Most of the hazards come from smoking or chewing tobacco.

Pouches, gum, and patches are available.  You don't have to spit with the nicotine pouches because they are not tobacco and do not cause salivation.

Nicotine's therapeutic potential is better than it's ever been.

It appears natural organic tobacco might be a good therapy. The problem seems to have arrived when they started to mess around with it putting in fillers and chemicals.I remember when walking into an old time tobacco shop the walls were filled with stone jars containing a massive amount of natural tobacco from various boutique manufacturers. Nowadays they are all gone and only the corporate giants remain in business, people tried them all out and settled on a blend that they liked.
My father smoked a pipe during the evenings and the weekend, I am sure it was a pleasure that kept him going into his eighties. My uncle chain smocked untipped capstan navy cut ciggs he was convinced by the doc at ninety to give it up, then he died of Alzheimer's at ninety four but he had no health problems in all those years . It seemed that if you are constantly being bombarded with information telling you your killing yourself by smoking. in the end most will believe the lie and spout the BS much the same as the vaxed did to the unvaxed. Either way it is social division.

I often wondered when they found things like radon gas in cigarette smoke, did they test the air in that room for that gas. I do believe it is mostly the chemical additives put on the tobacco that is the problem.
I know too much and question everything.
Does anyone know the minimum safe distance of ignorance?
Did anyone ask the monkeys how much fun the barrel actually was?

I've read more and more people are doing just that.  But if I remember correctly, curing it is quite a learning curve.

I quit smoking it but I haven't stopped growing it. I have it in the garden now, Virginia tobacco. I got a recipe I developed from the info I could get from the tobacco companies, "curing" and processing it is no problem. I got a recipe that was pretty much there. Ask and you shall receive.

"They" didn't go after nicotine.  "They" went after all the other shit, crud, and corruption that comes along with inhaling the byproducts of burning tobacco at low temperatures: carbon monoxide, formaldehyde, hydrogen cyanide, benzine, nitrosamines, tar, etc., etc.
