Sky burial

Sure, it's illegal in the United States. But it seems like a pretty good way to go, when it's time. Add to the mountain.

Anyone else think so? What are your preferences?

It's better to burn out than to fade away... so, I would choose to add to a volcano.

Why not?

Feed the birds and animals! Essentially what all the bodies on Everest are doing, except they are clothed and there’s not much animal activity at that altitude.

“Remember, all the bodies on Everest were once highly motivated individuals, so maybe just calm down a bit.”

The Tibetans really are into recycling.

But... but... but... then you avoid carbon sequestration! Lol...

And "Spirit in the Sky" is a great song! I'm not even really into music any more and that one still gets my toe tapping.

Sky burial upside: recycling and giving back to the Earth. Downside: yeechy.

I used to want to be preserved so I could resurrect myself like some kind of vampire but now that I believe there is more to explore I would prefer to be given to the ocean so I can feed the fishes

I always thought the central imagery seemed to express the desire to become one with the world of the open sky...

I didn't think the tradition had been coopted by the green movement.  Lol

Awesome marketing!

It is the ultimate cynical metaphor for our time on Earth.

Birds eat body, bird poop splatters on mountain, mountain of shit will eventually reach the sky.

Why are we here? "Chop wood, carry water, add to the mountain."

Perhaps simple metaphor but metaphor it is; to show impermanence of bodily flesh suit, give it to the sky as analogy of soul flying away.

I fell into a volcano once.

It's not all its cracked-up to be...
