 Growing up, before we could practice and carry bows and BB guns around the woods, we tried our hand at throwing knives and axes.  Knife and axe throwing as sports is a thing.  And has more cultural significance to some than others.

When you can’t carry a gun, what do you carry for a deterrence.  Maybe they are a gang of vicious girls among the kindest and most pure and gentle population of males ever and they are just an abomination against the utopian environment they are being raised in.

Where I was honest about growing up.  We tried our hand at knife and axe throwing not understanding it takes balance knives and axes. Then we started carrying around BB guns and a machete.  They were just part of growing up.  Being adventurous.   But looking back, I’m sure our parents had no problem with it and encouraged it since my friend and I played for hours away from home miles in the woods and fields.

I be more than happy to give my kid a Leatherman multi tool, Swiss Army Knives, a locking blade knife, or a stout walking stick.  Or all the above.  But her school would have a cow over any of those.  But outside of school.  Yeah.

Where it’s been determined if the girls had a pipe they still be in as much trouble.  So the table knife and hatchet are actually irrelevant.  

 I’ve made it clear to my daughter if she is ever bullied at school just punch the person.  There will still be consequences, but I’ll still stand behind her.  If some older dude was fallowing her around and filming her, I’d be more than happy for her to grab the axe.  Rocks.  Brach.  Whatever she needs as a deterrent.
