As to what they have to face, well, if it was that bad outside, why do you imagine their parents let them outside in the first place?

Maybe they dont even know where there children are, after all, half the kitchen drawer and shed are missing, and they have yet to notice.

The police have to charge someone for actual assault, not imagined assault. Waving weapons about and not using them isn’t assault mate, sure it’s not right and illegal, but it’s not actual assault. Your really stretching here.

In the video clip the girls are repeatedly shouting at him to leave them alone, so why did they feel the need to shout that? And why didn’t he just leave them alone? 

Like I said previously where are the witnesses?  I wouldn’t jump to any conclusions without hearing statements from witnesses or video footage from a ctv camera would be useful. You can’t jump to conclusions without further evidence.

They watched the movie Natural Born Killers too often?

You can be charged with assault for waving weapons, even if no physical contact is made, that's just the law that you will have to accept.

As to witnesses, how do you know there were none?

For all you know, they gave statements to the police that supported the CCTV and video evidence given by the man who called them.

You are jumping to conclusions, and without any evidence to support said conclusions i may add.

Police attended and did their job.
