POLICE Scotland has issued a warning over "misinformation" being shared in relation to an incident in Dundee.
False claims went viral online after a 12-year-old girl was charged with possession of offensive weapons this weekend.
Police were called to the scene at St Ann Lane in the Lochee area of the city shortly after 7.30pm on Saturday.
Officers responded after reports of a girl having a bladed weapon.

 
Chief superintendent Nicola Russell said: "We are aware of misinformation being shared on social media in relation to an incident where a Bulgarian couple were approached by youths in St Ann Lane, Dundee, on Saturday, 23 August 2025.
"A 12-year-old girl has been charged with being in possession of offensive weapons. She will be referred to the relevant authorities and our enquiries are ongoing.
"We would like to thank the local community for their help with our investigation and would urge the public not to share misinformation about this incident or speculate on the circumstances."

The fact is, she was charged down to the evidence provided, never mind the CCTV, which will also have been reviewed.

It’s established the guy filming the teenagers posted the video.  Is that not fact.


The video was posted by the guy after the girls told him to stop following and filming.  Is that not fact.

Do you have any evidence the guy filling the video called the cops before posting the video.  Which begs the question why the video wasn’t obtained at that time for evidence.  The girls names haven’t been released.  I doubt the guy would have been allowed to keep the video for uploading if he called the cops and showed them the video before uploading.
