Each F-1 engine produced over 1.5 million pounds of thrust, lifting a fully loaded rocket that weighed nearly 7 million pounds.
At maximum thrust, the 5 engines consumed over 40,000 pounds of fuel each second.

Yes, you don't appreciate how massive it is unless you stand next to it.
I visited the Space Center Houston a long time ago and saw the Saturn 5 (or full size replica) with my own eyes. The mind can't fathom how much power is needed to get that beast off the ground.
By comparison, I remember seeing the LEM there, too... and that thing was so tiny in comparison.
Great pic for great memories.

Thank you, I went to Houston Space Center too in 2005 and I could not believe how massive everything is. It’s amazing.
Be kind to everyone!

From the title I imagine a Roman god fighting a raccoon in the MCU?
I'm probably weird.

They ended up having a great space fight. It looks like this lol.

Cracking picture and a smart piece of kit that took us to the moon.
I don't even think there are still engineers who could construct such a thing in this day of age.
Given the shift in technology and material science.
But Saturn V was a wonder to behold.
Que the "but we did not go to the moon" muppets i should imagine at some point.
"Yet so it is, we see the illiterate bulk of mankind that walk the high-road of plain common sense, and are governed by the dictates of nature, for the most part easy and undisturbed. To them nothing that is familiar appears unaccountable or difficult to comprehend."

Who knows if we went to the moon. This site shows the differences between Saturn and SpaceX’s rockets.
Elon has 33 engines Vs Saturn V 5! SpaceX is taller, double the power, reusable and was made for longer distance!
If I were blasting off I would still pick Saturn V with analog vs digital. That’s just me!

I don't think there is any real doubt that we went to the Moon, six times even.
I tend to agree, i would choose the Saturn also.
We are apt to have a problem sourcing new components all the same.
After all, "They don't make 'em like they used to."
The extra engines on the SpaceX monster offer a measure of redundancy, but it's also more points of failure...

Right, we went to the moon. I would not want 33 rocket engines taking me up to orbit.
