Looks like Polish airports are back open. Curious to find out what happened. Maybe one or two got jammed or ran out of fuel from being shot at or something.

No.  Russia is attacking Ukraine, as usual, and some of their drones went through Polish airspace to do that.  Whether that was deliberate or accidental isn't really obvious from the reports.  Whichever way it is, however, the attack was not against Poland.  

Based on the response, it looks like the allies will take the opportunity to treat these incursions as target practice.

I do find it curious that the allies didn't see this coming in real time and have airborne assets in the air to defeat the drones. It sounds like someone was asleep at the wheel.

Seems like allies (Israel) and opponents (Russia) alike have decided to "disrespect" the new "strong" US.

These drones were without explosives. It wasn't an attack. It was a test and it was to be expected since several times before when Russian drones entered Polish airspace, they weren't shot down. Sometimes, they weren't even noticed. Good that this time they were shot down, otherwise next time Putin might try missiles.

On the side of Poland there's too much talk and not enough of walk. Each time a foreign drone is spotted, it should be shot down. Failing to do that is a sign of weakness and encourages further attacks or provocations, especially when the indecisive country neighbors the war zone.

We should be more like Turkey. Turkey doesn't rant 24/7 how bad Russia is but when the Russian Sukhoi violated the Turkish airspace, it was shot down without any scruples. This is how you do politics. Chihuahua barks, Rottweiler bites.

And nobody talks here about triggering the article 5. The article 4 might be used but it's speculation for now on

Poland shoots down drones over its territory amid Russian attack on Ukraine.Poland scrambled its own and Nato air defences to shoot down drones that entered its airspace on Wednesday during a Russian attack on Ukraine in what the Polish army called an “act of aggression” as Warsaw got involved in the war in its neighbouring country for the first time.
The Polish prime minister, Donald Tusk, said early on Thursday that operations were continuing and that he was in “constant contact” with the Nato secretary general, Mark Rutte. Tusk called for an emergency meeting of the council of ministers at 8am local time, a government spokesman said.
“An operation is under way related to the repeated violation of Polish airspace,” Tusk posted early on Wednesday. “The military has used weaponry against the objects.”
Poland’s military command also said drones repeatedly violated Polish airspace during the Russian attack in western Ukraine.
Radars tracked more than 10 objects and those that could pose a threat were “neutralised”, the command said.
“Some of the drones that entered our airspace were shot down. Searches and efforts to locate the potential crash sites of these objects are ongoing.”

It does appear as if Putin is attempting to increase his attack of Ukraine with massive drone strikes before winter sets in, in defiance of his 'friendship' and Alaskan meeting with Trump.
Mad Vlad seems to have shown the west what he thinks of a peace agreement with Ukraine, and wants to continue his war as long as he can afford to.
