People often fixate on the high strangeness in the event. For instance the story would go "These aliens came down in their saucer and landed in my lawn. Then the strangest thing ever happened! They asked for water and started baking cookies!". Now I might not an expert but the start with the aliens coming down was already fucking weird....
edit: meaning are you accepting things maybe that you should not that happened during the event? This might be one of their tactics or you need help because of a medical issue and I say that with the best intentions. There are many plausible explanations that doesn't involve crazy
