Rogue Planet Moons could harbor Alien Life for Billions of Years
#1
A new hypothesis is being proposed that Rogue planets with moons may be able to support life without a companion star. While, I would never have expected this, apparently dense hydrogen atmospheres combined with tidal heating could keep these distant moons warm enough for life. Tidal heating is the process where powerful gravitational forces continuously stretch and squeeze these moons during their orbit.

Astronomers believe rogue planets may be extremely common throughout our galaxy. Some experts estimates suggest there could be as many free floating planets as stars in our galaxy. If this estimate is accurate and most of those planets have moons environments where life may exist could be far larger than previously thought.

I look forward to everyones thought's on the subject...

I suppose if there are as many free-floating planets as stars in our galaxy.

It could be another vector for the likes of the panspermia hypothesis.

Just a thought.

I think it's a good thought, and I agree with you.

Sounds legit, I would add brown dwarf stars also that have had enough time to cool down and collect or gather cosmic dust as they travel that may have life sustaining elements...

Dut what about the deep space radiation between the stars. In theory, there is higher radiation between stars because of no protection that the stars normally provide.

The stellar wind and magnetic fields protect planets in orbit around them much like the magnetic fields of planets that have them protest the planets form the stellar winds.

There could be many dark rocks in interstellar space but nothing past microbes living deep below the surface.  That is if this theory is proven correct. The Voyagers are not that far out yet.
