I tried to be a Moonie back in the day but I got arrested.
I thought it meant you had to go around showing your ass to
people who I guess, really didn't want to see that.

We must consider that to be fair, all must be included. Including the Westboro Baptist Church and this real religious individual.
The Westboro Baptist Church is full of lawyers ready to pick a fight and that guy in the video has skipped the part about turning the other cheek.
Because the government has no ability to have a religion, they also have no say so in who is in what religion at all. They can only step in when laws are broken.
Can we hear from any followers of the Great Green Arkleseizure?
I know too much and question everything.
Does anyone know the minimum safe distance of ignorance?
Did anyone ask the monkeys how much fun the barrel actually was?

Two Page Summary
I highlighted the most significant lines to note. Everything is on the Justice Department website. So far none of the language favors any type of faith enforcement, and repealing the Johnson amendment does not favor Christians alone, but all 501c(3) organizations. That is one out of 29 501c structures.
Thank you for keeping us updated, we will watch this with curious eyes.
Oh, I know it will stay secular, Secular people wont let it not stay secular. We have pasta monsters or winged hermaphrodite goat-people to remind everyone about the rights of, like in Kansas or Oklahoma.
And the moment any one religious expression is made outwardly favored you release the secular kraken and confront that fundimentalist is far from a plurality.
Plus, they went out of their way to underscore how the specific faith is irrelevant and made it clear its ALL religion.
So we will be there to make sure IT'S ALL RELIGION..
Then, if a specific school has a lot of Vietnamese heritage or Therevada Buddhist students, they should absolutely be able to put up "The Five Precepts," like the Okies do with The Ten Commandments.
So here is hoping it will be in a universalist spirit, like a religious studies program at a Public University, more than it is like Seminary at Jerry Falwell's poorly named private Evangelical school.

If you like Douglas Adams I suggest the Principia Discordia It is the same absurdist humor..
Like the Aforementioned "Pentabarf" (Which literally means "The Five Commandments"):
Quote:The Pentabarf was discovered by the hermit Apostle Zarathud in the Fifth Year of The Caterpillar. He found them carved in gilded stone, while building a sun deck for his cave, but their import was lost for they were written in a mysterious cypher. However, after 10 weeks & 11 hours of intensive scrutiny he discerned that the message could be read by standing on his head and viewing it upside down.

Quote:“He said, ‘Tony, I’m going to rape your wife, I’m going to rape all your grandchildren, and the next time you go out of town, I’m going to kill them,’” he told reporters Wednesday, explaining the motive behind the attack.

It is actually quite an enlightening report as I continue to read it.
Thanks.
I always prefer to read what is really written instead of what is told by the media.

As long as it's not aggressively secular, like in France, where almost everything related to religion is forbidden...

It's interesting that I couldn't find any reference to atheism on the report.
Isn't atheism considered a religious opinion or are atheists the only ones that are not victim of discrimination?

Quote:In the United States, atheism is legally considered a protected belief equivalent to religion under the First Amendment, but it is not inherently classified as a "religious opinion.
The Free Speech Center says that.
The same 1964 Civil Rights Act cover Atheist beliefs too... There is legal precent for atheist protection ruled on by SCOTUS. (Kaufman V. McCaughtry)
The Evangelicals that wrote this dont like or want atheists though.
This omission says without saying they seek to counter the rise of the non-believers, like in more atheist-leaning Europe, where its upwards of 70% irreligious in places like Sweden or Germany..
And they surely seek to prevent the heavy-handed secularism France does.
It's a lot Christ kept In Christmas. The joyless unbelievers wanted to be joyless and take the nativity scenes away. Keep it only Coca Cola and Santa with polar bears and winter imagery.
With this, the workplace Christmas tree is again allowed a baby trumpet angel on top instead of a joyless secular star. And if your workplace decides to not allow the baby trumpet angel, there will be expanded government bodies to make sure youre religious rights arent being oppressed.
And that takes precedence over the atheist beliefs being violated with the displaying of the tree angel, because what is their counter, the default secular star?
And that is why it is more a convenience "it is not inherently classified as a religious opinion," and can be overlooked.

You really need to look into why the Puritans came to America. They had been persecuting everyone else and demanding religious laws in much of Europe for 300 years.
Everyone else decided they were fed up with all that and more or less threw them out. That is why religion is looked at the way it is in Europe today.
You can't force your beliefs on anyone and expect them to like it.
