If you win a billion, and you take the lump sum, it automatically deflates to about 500 million. Then they take taxes out on top of that, so you get about 300 million if you win a billion.

Have you seen what happened to some of the people who won the likes of "The Price is Right" or other big game shows in the past? Apparently, quite a few went bankrupt due to the taxes they ended up owing on the prizes. Along the lines of, win a $80,000 boat, have to pay $30,000 in taxes. I believe there is a term that applies, but it's a bit of a racial slur nowadays.

That plum won 10 million and blew it all in less than a decade and ended up penniless. https://www.ladbible.com/news/uk-news/mi...6-20250514

Well, nobody won the billion+ so now it is going to be a billion three hundred million I guess. Got to waste another couple of bucks buying two more tickets with the coupon.
Gee, I wasted three bucks on the lotto last time, now I am going to dump another three bucks for two powerballs and a lotto forty seven again with a two off of five buck coupon. Three dollars is about eight pounds of potatoes for the deer that keep the grass mowed in my yards. Spent seventeen bucks on the last bushel of potatoes, I need to get at least three numbers and the powerball to pay for deer food. It would be cheaper to mow my grass with the riding mower than feed the deer. And the deer don't even fertilize the lawn, they go in the woods to poop and pee this year because they eat the grass.

TV news at noon says it's now at $1.4 Billion for tonights drawing.
I told God that if He arranged for us to win, that we'd be good stewards of it. We'll see if He agrees.

I could buy an island with a secret underground base guarded by squads of highly trained killer Penguins where I could hatch my evil plan to take over the World.
If James Bond or similar shows up, I'll shoot him in the face and not give him a tour. Maybe.
