Not really well (or at all!) versed on military protocol or procedures, but this mass meeting seems highly unusual in scale.
Given the availability of modern communications abilities, especially within the US military, it seems very "old school" to invoke such a gathering. New policy dissemination, budget directives, even staff reductions could just as easily, and more efficiently from a logistics standpoint, have been conducted over existing, secure, channels could they have not? For those far more expert in such matters, is there anything in military protocol that would require, or even recommend, this scale of mass, multi-service assembly?
Russia / Ukraine situation?
Drone incursions in NATO nations and military aircraft near US? There may be a suspicion that the US military's secure communication system may be vulnerable to compromise. ?
Under the rainbow.

There are a couple of things, but not any really earth shattering like going to war with Russia. It's most likely a mass firing, or major policy change that they want to brief them in person on. The leading theories are "Flag Officer Squid Game" where it's either a mass PT formation, mass firing, or both.

Get them all together and see who can pass the basic PT standards, whoever can't gets the boot! Wishful thinking. Realistically I reckon it probably has something to do with NATO – either we're going to war (unlikely, with the doctrine turning more towards homeland defense and South America) or we're leaving NATO.

Having a sneaking suspicion that this may be about Trump wanting a big fancy military celebration for the 250th next year. "Better than Chyna!" Offhandedly passing orders to have everyone get together and learn how to give a snappy military parade is perhaps the kind of ridiculously thoughtless ego-thing he would do. He probably got annoyed that his "birthday celebration" looked a little lackadaisical. Maybe?
Yeah, that or leaving NATO. Ha, not likely. Although I do also suspect there may be a few walking-papers passed out in side-meetings...

I am not privy to such knowledge as your "cigarette" smoking self undisclosed software developer is. Fire up the old beast and please do tell how you think that could or would happen? I ask this in a way to not disrespect but am very curious on your take. |
