Paranormal Science
#1
Matti Pitkanen's 1982 PhD thesis in Theoretical Physics from the University of Helsinki used Einsteinian topology to fill in holes in John Archibald Wheeler's GeometroDyamics.  Matti's TGD-physics not only united General Relativity with Quantum Mechanics but also Consciousness.  It was a near-death encounter in a hospital that led Matti to a Eureka! moment.  He states that while religion may determine whether you go to to Heaven or Hell, it has nothing to do with Consciousness existence after biological death.  That is a consequence of Einsteinian geometry (which is far beyond Minkowski and Hilbert spaces).

Matti has personally experienced some so-called metaphysical phenomena and has offered a physics-based explanation for things like ESP, telepathy, out-of-body experiences, ghosts, past lives, and even UFOs.  There is a free 670-page online book that describes his vision (Paranormal Science).  You won't understand a lot of it unless you have a PhD in advanced mathematics.  But the personal experiences of ordinary people are heart-warming.  That advanced-physics can dispel the myth of the paranormal is what is important here.

I've never tackled it myself but from what I've heard is that it is purely theoretical and simply unprovable.

It's supposedly an interesting thesis however.
