I think it's PTSD and that the trauma never really leaves a person. I am sure she is grateful to be in Canada and get the help she needs to live a war-free life. As for ranting about gory Halloween decor which triggered her, well she's not alone.

She arrived in 2019 so not 10 years, but if she really can't adjust to the west's totally fucking up Halloween outdoor decor for little children and adults with PTSD or other trauma, then maybe soon Gaza will be habitable again and she can return to what kind of life she wants. It seems her sister and two children recently arrived and moved in across the street from her, so maybe that is what set her off; her thinking her sister and the children might be horrified by the display of severed body parts.

I think she was just upset or triggered and didn't think about what she was saying, or didn't know how to get it across in the right way. Many here that get triggered say worse hateful stuff than that. lol

Well she was obviously triggered and I agree with her about the gory Halloween decor...it scares the children, what's the point? 

We can all so easily speak about her reaction without sensitivity as those being safe and sound here in the West without having to face the horrors of war.

I think PTSD and anger are big parts of it, if you don't think so, that's your opinion. 

But if she can't get help to adapt or understand others cultural lack of sensitivity to other foreigners trauma coming from war torn countries, such as in decorating with gory body parts, then she will have bigger problems coming down the pipe for her.

My name is Samar Alkhdour, a Palestinian residing currently in Canada. I am a woman and mother who has always fought for human rights and women's rights. I worked for a human rights organization in Gaza for years. I had to leave my home country to pursue my graduate studies in the United States of America as that was a dream coming true. However, I had no choice but to seek asylum in Quebec after I finished my MA in 2019, with my husband and two of my children. Unfortunately, one my other daughter, Jana (13 years old), remained stuck in Gaza since Israel refused her departure (please check out the update added below in the updates section concerning the passing of Jana). Jana is disabled and needs advanced health care. I have been fighting for her since I left Gaza. Not only Jana, I still have in Gaza several members of my own family, including my only sister, her husband and their two young children (7 & 8 years old). Since October 7, I have prayed every day for my loved ones to survive Israel's incessant attacks, as well as the lack of food, water, and medication.

Originally only for travel expenses:

All funds collected will be paid directly towards the travel expenses of my sister and her family all the way from Gaza to Canada. Other expenses of accomodation in Egypt, Canadian visa fees, and other basic needs are on me.

The she updated saying "and other things too":

Due to unexpected delay from the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), processing my sister’s family file to move from Egypt to Canada since April 2024, extra expenses are needed to help cover for rent, therapy, healthcare, groceries and all other basic expenses!

It is worth noting that the Canadian government will offer no financial aid or support for Palestinian families that will arrive in Canada. This means I will be the one taking care of all financials related to my sister and her family for a full year.

Im inclined to agree on his assessment. I, too, believe its PTSD. Post trauma is indeed triggering these people. It could possibly be scaring little kids but the majority of people are having a good time which is why its a popular holiday that is still being carried out WITH GOOD INTENTIONS. Healing isn't always easy, sure, but changing who you are to please others comfortability is an entirely different psychiatric problem from childhood and its not healthy either. It is OK to sympathize and still do you, that is healthy. It is ok to recognize their struggle and wish they aren't struggling. It is NOT OK to change the world on an individuals struggle. That thinking is narcissistic and dare I say possibly schizo-affective in nature. These are not real bodies and to consider them as such WHILE KNOWING that shows a severe break in reality.
