Traffic cameras, ring doorbells, our devices, cameras on buildings, and in buildings - basically everywhere these days.

And if they are making these spying devices for China.....don't you think they are using them in the USA and elsewhere?

Silicon Valley enabled brutal mass detention and surveillance in China, internal documents show

My sister in law was over the house yesterday and we were sitting in the living room talking about a few presents we wanted to get for grandkids. While we were sitting there, she gets a message on her iphone advertising the exact presents from Amazon.

No idea what was listening, the Fire TV, our phones, or who know what.  Scary.

I think some Fire TV remotes have a mic, if you pair your Fire TV with an Echo smart speaker, then it's always listening.

Also, your phone is an always on sensor platform... it can extract information from noise. It doesn't have to rely on photos or recordings.

If your friend searches for dog food, you may get dog food ads... even if you never typed or said it. If you’re on the same Wi-Fi or physically near someone, ad networks can cluster you. The cluster thinks people connected are statistically more likely to be interested in the samethings.

Now add that with AI...

Yes, It is time for me to do a general cleanup of devices capable  of spying on me.  I do not think Amazon would risk a lawsuit by purposely attempting to eavesdrop on what goes on in my house, but I am sure there are hacks out there that would certainly try to use that hardware themselves.
