Oak Island - Discussion

It's like the producers and directors all seem to be using 'marketing' techniques to both promote and "mold" the show... kind of doing a disservice to the subject matter, which is a legitimately interesting thing... even if the 'pushed' theories prove to be no good, the search, and what is found, has entertainment value in and of itself.

I kind of object to this kind of work being done in an 'entertainment' venue, rather than as adopting a documentarians' approach to the subject.  Ostensibly the show is meant to inform... to me, pushing entertainment on top of it tends to tarnish the results.

But please remember, that's just me...

I think the "Time Team" is a MUCH better show... though they don't try to make it about Mysterious Topics but rather about how investigations into history (using archaeology) is done.

Plus Tony Robbins (Baldrick, if you remember the Black Adder series) is really quite charming.

I agree, I do feel like the first half of every episode is just going over finds from previous shows. But occasionally they do find something unexpected. Which is just enough to keep me coming back :)

It's a pity you can't take your drone there and give us a nice "swoop over" of the area.  I think that would be fun!

I really do enjoy these shows, but I do prefer Prof' Alice Roberts and some of the shows she has done, including 'Digging For Britain' The Celts: Blood, Iron and Sacrifice,  as well as others...

From wiki but...
Quote:On 12 February 2021, Roberts presented a one-hour BBC Two documentary, Stonehenge: The Lost Circle Revealed,[sup][56][/sup] about Mike Parker Pearson's five-year-long quest that filled in a 400-year historical gap in the provenance of the bluestones of Stonehenge and Waun Mawn.[sup][57][/sup][sup][58][/sup][sup][59][/sup]

I remember ATS member 'FlayingClayDisk' posting a thread about going to vist the island but can't remember if they ever commented afterwards??

That would be a fun island to fly around. I just looked, only a 12 hour 37min drive from home. Which goes over a country border, a ferry, over private roads and into another time zone LOL
