Perhaps because the border wall simply cost a fortune, and just couldn't work in any sort of reasonable time-frame?

I'm not sure how much you know about heavy construction, but 80 miles of fencing is impressive when you consider the conditions they're working in.

Do the conditions they are working in come as a surprise to you?

Also, the great wall of China, and the Maginot line, and all sorts of other border fortifications have gone up way faster and cheaper.

Also, historically, border walls and fortifications and such have mostly been useless and trivially bypassed...

LOL.

You are saying that the inciting to violence is just free speech.
That is incorrect.
I provided the information showing that it is against the law.
Obviously you didn't know that.

I disagree, and I'm also not saying inciting to violence is 'free speech'
But as I said, everybody peacefully marched and no one was driven by placards to violent attacks during the demonstration.

You don't think mocking the murder of a man is in poor taste ? There was nothing illegal in what she did and no, I don't agree with mocking someone for getting murdered, no matter who it is. { with the exception of pedophiles and rapists }

There are people out there saying he deserved it. Do YOU condone that type of thing ?

No I don't think Charlie Kirk deserved 'it'

But there are lots of people who disliked him for his opinions, and as I posted before, many supported the Westboro Church for their opinions even when they disagreed with them. calling anyone out who thought they shouldn't be allowed to protest as they did.

to add...

Now because these people are seen as 'liberals' by some because of political bias, it's suddenly wrong??

A small markup on the cost of goods is reasonable, (usually around 10%) but 50% price hikes, for nothing different or better? That's just extortion and theft.

He says he's trying to bring manufacturing back to the US. Detroit is a ghost town because car makers moved to Mexico and Canada because of cheaper labor. America is the largest consumer of foreign goods on the planet, but countries put tariffs on our products to keep down the competition and from undercutting their domestic goods. We're doing the same and now they're crying foul.

*sigh*

ONCE AGAIN... FREEDOM OF SPEECH DOES NOT EQUATE TO FREEDOM OF CONSEQUENCES. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes. In this case and quite a few others who couldn't control their hate, unemployment.

Murdering someone for their political beliefs is wrong. Period. End of.

Mocking anyone for being murdered over their beliefs = Bad. mmk ?

Westboro were a bunch of loud mouth ass hats who did it for attention. No matter that they had Freedom of Speech, it was bullshit to go to a soldiers funeral and say he got what he deserved.

Even US manufacturers need to source stuff (like raw materials) that the USA doesn't have. If you put tariffs on everything, then even locally made stuff becomes more expensive.

Sometimes, even local manufacturers who have a monopoly will put their prices up, in line with their competitors, just because they can.

And American labour is more expensive because Americans have higher standards of living.

The Trump way to make them competitive again, is to lower their standards of living, so they'll do the 'dirty, dangerous, hard work'. One way would be to reduce their disposable income by making everything way more expensive - heavy tariffs would work.

And Detroit manufacturing failed well before anyone much moved their factories outside US borders. There were stacks of reasons. One of the main ones being that no-one wanted to do that kind of work anymore.

And these days, car manufacture is highly mechanized. It doesn't matter much about labour costs if there aren't many laborers anyway.

THAT is one of our biggest problems. Did you know there are over 7 million unfilled jobs in the Trades here ? Nobody wants to get their hands dirty anymore. They all have been convinced that going to college { and debt } is the only way. We are desperate for welders, electricians, plumbers, etc....

If no one wants to do the work, how do they think we'll maintain our infrastructure ? It's the "someone else will do it" mindset. How do they think that fiberoptic cable got laid for their precious internet access ?
Who built that cellphone tower ?
Magic ?

How is that working out? Because I see massive job cuts.
Amazon just announced they will be cutting 600,000 employees in America.
Any company investing in US manufacturing has no intention of being large job numbers with them.
People are being played a fool if they think otherwise.
